Just bought a 204C with 92 Johnson 175HP VRO engine. The manual said there should be a buzzer on the control or under dash. I checked the control, under dash, inside the instrumental panel but cannot find the buzzer. there is no sound when the key is on and no sound when I ground the temperature terminal on the engine. I understand the warning horn can tell me the condition of the oil and temperature. I would like to find it and replace. Please help. Thanks

There is a chance that the previous owner bypassed or got rid of it. Its usually right behind the keyswitch. Did you have the ignition on when grounding the temp wire?

Old carb johnsons with the VRO's have a few alarms.

No oil flow, low oil in resevoir, fuel restriction, and overheat. Different tones for each alarm.

They are pretty small and cost about $100. I would replace them. IF the VRO goes that is the only way to know. The tone of the buzzer is the same for each "alarm" parameter, except the frequency changes. You can find references online. I have gotten so used to mine that I can now even use the buzzer to tell when I need to switch to another fuel tank. It's well worth the money. I would not run mine without them.
