The existing bait tank pump intake scoop on the used 2004 208 I just bought has the scoop facing forward. I just purchased a SPXFLOW Aqua Jet WD 5.2 was down pump I am planning to set up with 3-way valve to serve both purposes. I am thinking it may be advisable to have scoop facing aft but thought I better to first look to the forum for thoughts. Any advise appreciated.

Scoop should face, or open, towards the front. Wash down pumps are high pressure/low volume, bait well pumps are high volume/low pressure. Buy a Rule 1100gph livewell pump for abour $45 on Ebay, or elsewhere. Screw it directly to the top of the sea cock. It has an outlet on the bottom, so you can attach an intake hose for the wash down pump, and still run both from one through hull.

Like this, but look for a better price:

Thanks Glacierbaze.
I currently have a Johnson XPSFlow 500 gph on the through hull with ball valve shut off on it. Do you think that’s enough to feed live well? Will need to look but I believe the XPS has a suitable outlet on bottom too.

As glacierbaze said . That is your best bet then buy a washdown pump hook it up on the other outlet .
I set up this in my old 228, she didn't have a washdown and I didn't want to put another hole on the bottom of the boat.
The pick up should always face forward, if facing back it won't pump water when under way . Don't forget to use a one way valve on the live well line .

The XPS will only provide 300GPH, running full blast, compared to 1100GPH from the rule, both theoretical numbers. I don't think it makes any difference which sits on the through hull, if both have the second outlet, if they have similar lift. However, the second pump does not need the aux outlet for just a washdown/livewell setup, so you might use a different Rule.

Thanks again folks for the support.
The expertise shared here gives me one more reason I made the right choice in buying a GW.
