Water separator/pump

I recently purchased a 1990 25’ Sailfish. The boat was sitting for a few years prior to me buying it. I was concerned with the fuel that had been left in. I had the fuel drained and the tanks removed, cleaned and dipped. The mechanic said the tanks look good. They have been reinstalled and new fuel lines and valves installed. The boat has two water separator that have wires running to them. One of the separators is cracked so I want to buy new ones. The mechanic said he can’t find anything with matching numbers. I have two question. Are the wires for monitoring fuel levels or is the water separator also a priming pump? Can anyone recommend a replacement.

I don't believe mine have any wires. I thought it was a passive separator.

Are you referring to separately mounted fuel filters or gas filters on the motor? What motors are on the boat?

I am also quite surprised that a shop or mechanic would recommend pulling, cleaning , and dipping (?) a 32 year old tank.
Your boat is not diesel is it?

I'm assuming it's a water alarm for when too much water builds up in the separator. At worse use one without the sensor (might have to bypass the alarm on that one) and just check the water level regularly.

Where does the wire go?

I am assuming you mean external fuel/water separators not the one's in the motors. The ones in the motors have water sensors. Yamaha motors ? what motors?

Don't usually see external fuel/water separators with sensors or wires.

You could start from scratch with a pair of Racor fuel/water separator kits. Get the ones with the clear plastic bowl. Then no need for sensor.
Racor 3213 (OEM Merc/Yamaha/Zuke/Honda)or 3214(OMC). They are both 10 micron filters. The difference is the thread/diameter of the mount.
If you stick with the mount you have then you have to measure the thread/diameter and match.

If you are getting a complete new kit with the mounting head then it doesn't matter between 3213 or 3214 or even S3227 kit
Whichever you buy just stick with that for replacement filters.
You need a flow rate of 90gph filter head which should have 3/8 "NPT ports. The Racor brand model is 660R-RAC-01
Look for a stainless steel mounting head instead of aluminum. MARPAC is a brand of SS heads with 3/8 ports.

I’m referring to the, what I was told, water separators which are mounted on the back of the transom above the bilge pump.

I have the original Yamaha 200 hp outboards

As far as the fuel tanks go. I have one 150 gallon and one 50 gallon. I was concerned they would need to be replaced but I was told they were still in really good condition.
