We are new Grady White owners. We bought a 1978 Nassau 212-C.

We are starting a restoration project in February. Mostly cosmetic but some repairs needed. The boat is seaworthy based upon the master boatman inspection in Maine. The engine is a mercruiser 4.3 L inboard/outboard. Runs great needs a little TLC. I’m good with that. Are there any people around Florence South Carolina that are owners?

Welcome aboard, pops!

Grady is based out of NC, so I'm sure you can find plenty of Grady owners near you.

But is there anything specific you are wondering about? Really, when it comes to doing repairs/etc... a boat is a boat is a boat.

What year engine and what outdrive model? Are the bellows good?

I’m not 100% sure yet but I think it’s original to the boat. I’ll know more after I get the serial numbers. We’re new at this. We upgraded to this one. We had a 1978 Forester tri hull with a 70 hp outboard for a while in Az. Just moved to Sc. We needed a bigger boat. Noticed you’re from Allentown. We were from Mountain Top area. My wife is an RN . Me USMC. Both retired now.

Small world! Thank you for service... both of you! :)

Ha! That boat looks just like the one that one of my uncle's had (they each had one, but different colors) when I was a kid (I'm 51).

That engine is a WHOLE heck of a lot newer :) My guess would be somewhere in the early to mid 2000 range. Do you have any better pics of the drive?

I restored one years ago. Removed IO and installed a bracket and 150 Yamaha. Took it from West Palm Beach to Abaco, Bahamas three times! Stringers and transom were wet. New everything including foam flotation.

Wow. That’s a project and a trip. I like the steering wheel.

Thanks! Great trip though the boat was a little small for a 200-mile run to Abaco. I sold the boat after three years and three crossings but kept the steering wheel as I liked it. These were great looking boats.
