Now I'm jealous looking at these great setups, No trailer for me a fork truck launches and pulls mine in the spring and fall. It sure would be nice to have it at home to work on it during the off season.

I'm finding the payoff of being able to work on it at home. I just finished pulling all the rub rail and sealing the seam and all holes below. Someone had done this what looked like quite a few years ago and I'm guessing they removed the whole thing because when they reinstalled the wholes for screws didn't line up and they put a new set of holes all the way around that were not sealed. I was getting water dripping inside at the seam of top and hull everytime we got in rough water with spray. I not only sealed the hull line intensely but also all the holes in the rail and I did it without removing the whole thing at once so the holes lined back up and were filled with 4200 to seal them. Hopefully no more leaks after this. I'm used to my big boat which has to stay in the water or get lifted out in a yard at great expense so I'm really loving this work on it at home option. Looking into building an 80' carport to house the boat and motorhome in so they skip the weather. Probably next year for that though.

Above poster --- Get the Duramax or a diesel of what your choice is. I pulled my 232 Gulfstream with a 5.3 small block and it was straining big time on long hills. I have a 2012 2500HD w/6.6 turbo diesel, match with the 6 speed Allison transmission. Pulls like nothing is back there and gets 14.5 on the road. Best of all I get out into interstate traffic with NO PROBLEMS.

I use 2" with 1" shank rated 8000 lb, towing my seafarer. You can use either as long the ball you use is rated over 7000 lb you should be fine.
If budget permits use Kodiak Stainless steel brakes at the very least use S/S calipers, much cheaper in the long run.
Sorry I'm assuming you are boating in salt water .
