I would guess anywhere from 115-150hp. Does it have 6 or 8 cylinders under the cowling? What size boat is it sitting on?

I'm going with late 80's, very early 90's, 150 HP. Later 90's, the cowling was more rounded.

What year is the boat itself?

And didn’t some of the older vintage of motors come with some odd horsepower ratings like 125-130?

Boat is a 1986 204C Overnighter. Motor is locked up so I have a guy that will buy it for 1k. Gonna use that $$ on gel coat and wiring.

It’s probably an 86 engine too then. See the brochure I linked above for 1986 pages 10-11 look about right

Agree with PointedRose... probably the same, or similar year as to your boat, though I suppose it could've definitely been repowered during that time as well. The brochure says that year/model of boat had a maximum power rating of 230 hp, which is a bit surprising to me as that seems a bit high.

I’ve seen where a 150hp doesn’t do well with 4 people getting on plane. I plan on a transom upgrade with a 225hp.

The stern may sit low with the extra weight.

I have the extended transom on mine. Would like to run 40+ WOT on calm day. I’ll have to look for threads with hp performance with my boat… thanks
