what length kicker shaft on gulfstream

Hey guys, i have an 04 gulfstream with a 250 yamaha. I want to add a 9.9 high thrust for fishing. The boat has a single offshore bracket and a swim platform mounted on top and the kicker will be mounted to a bracket on the swim platform. Will I require a 25" shaft or will a 20" work? Thanks!

If it was me I would call Grady and ask them. I'd bet you are not the first guy who wanted to add a kicker. I had one on my first Grady, a 22 Seafarer, it had a 25 inch shaft.

I put a Yamaha 9.9 high thrust power tilt and trim electric start kicker with 25" shaft on my 208 Adventure
Mounted a directional valve to split the fuel lines also.
Works great!

I would also go with the extra long (25")

go with an extra long shaft for sure , for the best control you want those high thrusts as deep as possible and as close to center as the main outboard will permit, that way when its windy you will have better control for turning both ways, to far to the edge you will have a hard time turning her one way. be real cautious about mounting to the swim grid you will require a bracket to support the weight , they weigh about 110lbs and the swim grid will separate from the hull
