Hi guys,
I got a new Freedom 225 and I'm looking to add a VHF radio. I did the VHF install on my old boat but I have no idea where to mount the radio and antenna in my new GW. any advise would be helpfull, thanks

If you have a new 225, with the gauges mounted up high and a big open space on the right for your GPS/FF, then it's a little trickier. I actually preferred the older style dash with the electronics box, because then you could do something like this:

In your case, you could either mount it low (below steering wheel) and flush mounted, or - better yet - look for a black box type unit that has all the controls and display in the microphone. Mount the radio inside the storage compartment and mount the remote mic up high so you can see the display.

My antenna is mounted on a ratchet on the gunwale...you can see it at the right edge of the picture...easy to reach if I need to flip it down to get under a bridge...

thanks.....just got my new Freedom 225 in March and it has the new helm format. My chartplotted in mounted in the open space area and your suggestion of a black box VSHF makes a lot of sense
