Where do you guy your 5200 sealant?

Was looking for a a source for tubes of 5200 sealant, assume white will be fine.

I am referring to the 10oz, I believe. Everywhere I look, the biggest complaint is the lack of a "spout"(?), so have not ordered any.

Lowes only has a small 3oz tube, Academy has a little larger, but very much more expensive.

Suggestions?

I think I found one that will work...20 bucks. I am thinking of getting 2 tubes, 10oz each. I have to do the top connections to the boat as well as the new antennas. I do not think 1 tube will be enough heh.

Don't know if you have either of these near you but I have gotten it at Academy Sports and Home Depot.

Having now read what you intend to use it on...

I would highly recommend using marine grade silicone or 4200 (at most) for those applications. 5200 is serious stuff and i have learned my lesson the very very hard way to say the least- use it on anything that you consider that you will hopefully not have to remove for a very long time or ever. In general, I have heard it said, use 5200 on anything below the waterline and 4200 above the waterline. 4200 has the same sealing properties as 5200, but the adhesion properties are what differ between the two, where 5200 is a nightmare to remove and the only thing that i know for sure helps remove something that has been affixed with 5200 is a torch. For things like the radar mast, antenna mount, etc. I have been using marine grade silicone with great success. Even gunnel rod holders, I would go with 4200 before 5200. Food for thought.

Prince, appreciate it and heard the same, but I have to go with what the mfg says or I stand a chance of voiding any warranty I may have I will be very careful and hopefully never remove the hardtop

Having used 5200 and 4200 quite a bit on my boat, I prefer the 5200. For your application I would get the quick set (fast cure) that's in your link.

I never had issues others spoke of on the removal of it when I needed to. Maybe just lucky, dunno.

I get mine at West Marine, for convenience and I try to support the local branch where I live.

Just make sure you have a GOOD caulk gun, the kind that won't keep squirting out the 5200 when you release the trigger lock. It seems to get everywhere LOL.

I had quite a few projects where that stuff was literally all over my hands (don't like working with gloves with it). It comes of fairly easily with rags or paper towels, then warm soap n water.

Also, you can keep the remainder airtight by putting saran wrap or exam glove over the tip and then use a beefy rubber band to seal up around that. Hope that makes sense.

Sorry, i just revisited your second post, you are affixing the hardtop with it...different story. I thought it was just accessories that were to be mounted to the hardtop.

I picked up two tubes of 5200 on Amazon for like 20 bucks each. Will be here tomorrow.

What kind of mechanical fasteners are you using, as well? I would not attach an antenna with 5200, they get broken and replaced too often.

I would highly recommend 4000 fast cure so it doesn’t yellow from UV. 4000 is UV resistant
