Greetings :
Hope everyone is safe and healthy.

In a couple of weeks I am going to buy a new Garmin chart plotter. I have a 4208 that I damaged with my battery screw up two seasons ago. I have a 24xhd2 radome. The current sounder is GDS22 digital 50/200 khz sounder with airmar 1kw through the hull transducer.

I have a few things to repair this season and my budget for the chart plotter is around 2k. I don't bottom fish, so my sounder is largely used to aid in navigation and then to figure out depth for trolling. So, if I can use my current transducer that would be great.

I am looking at the 7608, 7610 or the 942xs. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions or first hand knowledge? Thanks.

As big as you can get if you're only going with one unit. By the time you splitscreen, you're down to two 5" screens if you go with the 7610. As you know, I'm running twin 7's so if it was a single, I'd be a 14". Saw one of the guys here with a Lowrance HDS 12 in his ebox on his 228.

I got an LCX-111 in the 226 with a flush mount panel. Not sure how that unit compares in size with the newer 12” but a check of the dimensions might give you some guidance.

So, Brian, did you fabricate the flush mount panel ? How did you secure the panel to the boat? I never thought of flush mounting ,but I am intrigued

I’m not sure two 7” screens is equal one 14” screen but I didn’t take my shoes off to do the math, so not 100% sure.
This is a 12” screen in the electronics box.

So, what are the dimensions of that unit? I suppose I could drift on over to lowrance web page and figure it out.

A grand for a decent transducer and another grand for install and it totals about the same as I paid for my first new car. A bargain!

I have both touch screens and buttons. (12, 9 and 8 inch screens) In rough weather. I prefer the buttons as opposed to the touch screens for obvious reasons.

does mounting a chartplotter/gps with an internal antenna in the enclosure interfere with its signals?

I have a Garmin EchoMap Plus 94SV in the enclosure. No external antenna. Bimini, not hard top. No issues with the signal.

I have a 12 at the helm and a 9 in the port overhead. I can see the 9 from the cockpit so i can watch the fishfinder

It doesnt for me but if you dont have the external antenna the screen bounces all over the place
