Russ, for as safe as you presume to be I can’t believe as an ex navy guy you toke the family out with them. They could have leaked gas right into the bilge for the bilge pump to catch on fire.

I see the Sierra filters do that all the time here in fla. Your best chance of keeping the rust under control is to use a real racor filter. The racor has better epoxy on the outside, better filter paper On the inside that won’t break down into dust, and a better drain that won’t leak as long as you don’t crank on it. A racor has over double the life of any of its competitors including the oem Yamaha ones. It’s worth every penny.

Went with brass fittings. I was able to get them at Lowes and I was not waiting a week and a half to get stainless. No-one will care what color they are and both will do fine.

Ordered a new 10amp fuse (for the rear main power switch panel) and the fuel hose, 12ft...should be here Friday.. so will / should be able to hook it all up and run them this weekend... I hope

Looking forward to seeing how the compression worked out.

Nice housings, but they do make Teflon tape rated for gasoline, it is yellow.

Well, I used a little of the stuff they sent along with the teflon I had. What they sent was sorta like locktite fluid, or liquid paper. Once it dried, could not easily remove the things so, I am thinking I am stuck with what I used. That being said, if I see an issue, I will be sure to remember that. I added my standard teflon and then coated it with their stuff.

Actually, seems we both got it less desired here. The yellow stuff is not recommended either, according to others. The liquid stuff is best, they say. Eh, I think the yellow stuff, with the liquid stuff might have worked best, but it would seem even the yellow teflon breaks down and is not rated for fuel...go figure. But, still, will keep an eye on it and make sure to grab some next visit to the auto part store. Appreciate the insight.

Actually, I think I will take them apart and just use the paste. I am now reading that stuff works best. Will just apply it thicker.. heh

I don't use tape on gasoline fittings. I use a gasoline approved pipe joint compound from Permatex. Yellow teflon tape is used for gasses like natural gas and propane. It is NOT recommended for gasoline.

yep, was what I was reading. I swapped it out with the provided liquid stuff.
