Windlass on tournament 225

Has anyone installed a windlass i
On the 225 with a factory pulpit? Have a lewmar 700 im installing and dont think ill get enough drop in the anchor locker if mounted on pulpit but really dont want to mount on anchor locker hatch. Any help appreciated

On my 226 it was mounted right next to it on top with the spool on the pulpit side.

Deck / gunwale - immediately next to where the pulpit attached. It also had a steel fitting on the front for the chain to run through.

I'm on my 2nd 225 Tournament with a Windlass. The previous one had a windlass on a fiberglass pulpit. The current one has the anchor in a bow roller with no pulpit.

In both cases the windlass sits just in front of the anchor locker and feeds directly into it. I can open the anchor locker and store my bow lines in there.

Ok thanks. No worrys with line getting jammed. Was worried that mounting on the pulpit would drop the line to far forward in the anchor box

You know I just bought a 226 with a windlass. After pulling it all out to clean the anchor locker spoiling it back in was a PITA. Didn’t spool right. Hoping older stiffer rope was the issue and that when it gets wet it will be ok. Mine is factory mounted on the pulpit.

You know I just bought a 226 with a windlass. After pulling it all out to clean the anchor locker spoiling it back in was a PITA. Didn’t spool right. Hoping older stiffer rope was the issue and that when it gets wet it will be ok. Mine is factory mounted on the pulpit.

Older line does grow stiffer as it ages. Even new line can be stiff. They can be softened by soaking in a pail or garbage can with water and fabric softener. The amount of softener is not super critical. You need to experiment a bit with concentration and time. Overnight works for me.

Where is everyone mounting the circuit breaker? Lewmar says as close to battery as possible but the breaker is a surface mount and really dont want to have it sticking out inside boat. Under dash would be better but i believe too far from battery.

Mine is factory mounted on my 226 right under the up and down switch to the right of the steering wheel. I always keep it “tripped” so the up and down switch won’t energize

I would like to put a roller and windless on my 2003 225 Tournament, Grady says they dont offer an option for this boat. Is the 1/2 decking strong enough for a roller and windless?

I would reinforce it...either with a pulpit (ideal) or with an aluminum pad.
