Thinking of installing a windlass on my Trophy Pro. I havn't heard to many good things regarding them. Is there anybody happy with theirs. I'm currently using a anchor retrival ball.

I agree, fishing solo it is great to have, also makes it easier to anchor in nasty seas. Just make sure your anchor line is not hard, if so it tends to twist and tangle a bit, and make sure the type of line, strand and thickness works with whatever windlass you put in, the line itself can effect its overall performance. I love having a windlass, now a windlass and anchor ball is the best solution when you have large amounts of line out, but a windlass also draws a bit from the batteries, bringing up 1000+ft of line can kill some batteries, you may need to rev your engines to keep sharing them while bringing the line in. At idle not all battery chargers work.

Have others stated reasons they were not happy with them. To me the best accessory on the boat. I rarely used the anchor before I installed it.

If you are a DIYer, not much work to install, three or four bolt holes plus the line larger hole. It you have the lifting cleat in the middel up there, it may have to be removed. I removed mine, and installed two cleats on the gunnel as the newer models have.
Grady may have already equipped your boat with a DC fdr running from the stern to the bow, as mine was, on the port side under the gunnel. Just add a switchable breaker at the stern, a reversing contactor by the windlass, and an up/down SPDT switch at the bridge. I re-used the retired fuel primer switch. I found Grady had also placed two spare control wires from the bridge to the bow.
Don't give up the retrieval ball - keep it on the boat too.
