I've been very careful about drying the glass when I wash my boat, but it looks like water spots are beginning to etch into the glass. I don't know whether this is caused by salt or minerals/acid in the rain water. In any event, I'm wondering what products you guys have used to reduce or eliminate spots/etching in the glass. I've heard that some guys are using RainEx. Does it work? - is there something better?

thanks for your assistance.

RainEX works great on glass but do not use it on plastic. Your etching is probably a combination of salt water and acid rain. I keep my boat in Georgetown, SC and the steel mill there puts out some interesting material.

Iseen guys in the used car biz use 4 0000 steelwool and water to "polish" markrs out of windshields. Just be sure to keep the area well lubricated with water. I've also heard of using toothpaste to do the same thing. Be sure to try it in a small corner before you go at it in the center of the glass.
