Wiring in GW 235 - neat or tangled?

quantase et al,
Well, the boat is here. The dealer (Jacobsens) is supposed to start rigging it next week. They have 2 boats ahead of mine.
I went over to see it on Tuesday and I looked it over pretty closely and only found a couple of very minor defects...
The anchor locker latch is missing the flat bar that engages the latch.
The anchor locker has a jagged 2-3 inch hole through to the bilge in the very bottom of it.
**Is there supposed to be a drain in the anchor locker? **
Since they haven't started installing the bits and bobs yet there wasn't access to the wiring behind the dash. I will be checking on that and posting pix.
The GPS and VHF are in stock. I just sent a note to the sales guy asking if all the other "stuff" is in.
I chose to option Skookum with...
350hp Yami
Windlass
Elect. Seat
Manual head
Full covers
EZ Loader 7500lb trailer
Garmin 8616 w/ Airmar 175 'ducer
Garmin 215 VHF w/remote mic. & 4ft antenna
Garmin 800 AIS & 4ft antenna
7 Burnewiin mounts- rods, downriggers, pot table, flag holder
3rd fishbox lid hinge for the weight of the pot table
Moving the CL5 gauge up and installing the VHF in the lower right on the dash 20250318_101258.jpg20250318_101119.jpg20250318_092916.jpg
Ordered a pot table from ServiXe (check out Johel's thread on THT)
Adding TPMS sensors to the trailer which will connect to the truck system
Adding a snap on "canvas" cover for the transom seat to protect the folded seat upholstery when dealing with pots.
Sorry for the long post but I've been all in on this since we ordered the boat in October.
Regards, Mike

Not a good picture but this is the hole in the bottom of the anchor locker. Dealer says their fiberglass guy will fix it. Odd that there's no drain.

most anchor lockers drain to the bilge. It is typical grady to drill the holes in bulkheads and stringers after glassing, leaving core exposed.
That won't be the only spot....

Not sure but I think they only keep the anchor locker separate from the bilge and put a drain when they have an anchor that mounts thru the bow.
Also, It would have to be a boat that is big enough for the drain to be well above the waterline.

I would not want a drain out of the anchor locker on a bowrider in any case....

Thank you Skunkboat.
I guess that I expected a more "formal" drain hole to the bilge.
I agree that an overboard drain would be bad.
I think that adding a bit of glass for strength and drilling a proper hole would be better than what's there now.
Regards, Mike

I’m liking the color and your dash layout. Yes, the anchor drain is the same on mine as well. Great to hear they have your boat in the cue. In about 2-3 weeks you will be ready to launch. Exciting times!

My 235 wiring was reasonably organized but not picture worthy. I did all my rigging so I cleaned up the wiring as I installed the electronics. I added one additional fuse block so the wiring wasn’t so crowded onto the factory one. I moved both to the back of my hinged panel shown in the photo. I cut their wood panel into two pieces and added hinges and a rubber latch. I got tired of removing 6 screws every time I needed to work in the console.

Great idea!

Wiring update:
My new 235 is being rigged now.
I got a picture of the back of the dash and it's not too bad. I didn't realize that one of the fuse blocks is attached to the "cover" and is hanging loose while they add the electronics.
Also, my plan to move the Yamaha CL5 up on the dash and install the VHF in the CL5 hole wouldn't work because, as suspected, the CL5 hole is taller than the VHF. So, the radio goes above the Yami gauge as is usual.
The shop is quite busy but we should be ready for sea-trials next week!
