I'm a newby, so please forgive me! I am in the final decision phase on choosing a GW or a competitor; I wanted to verify that the GW does not use any wood; can my bro's confirm this?
Many thanks!!!!!!

Unless you are looking at certain models of 2016s that are now using composite, all other GWs use wood.

Wood is not a bad thing....in fact the wood that GW has used for many years now is fully encapsulated so it won't rot. Don't let that scare you.

Good luck with your purchase.....

Hi,
GW started phasing wood out of their boats a couple of years ago. My understanding that in 2015 GW has no wood in the transom or stringers. I believe it is still used in decking and coring applications.

From their website.
All composite structural components. There is NO wood in the transom or structural stringer foundation of any newly built Grady-White. In fact, Grady-White utilizes an impervious-to-water, high density, closed-cell polyurethane foam reinforced with woven roving and continuous strand fiberglass as the basis of our structural stringer systems and transoms. Furthermore the sturdy composite transom on each new Grady-White is reinforced with a solid aluminum transom angle brace to distribute torque and provide unfailing strength. And even though it's not required for boats over 26 feet, each and every Grady-White of every size has enough sprayed-in foam flotation to ensure that the boat is unsinkable. No boat brand has better certified flotation characteristics.

Thanks everyone; I have decided to purchase the 2016 GW Freedom 307 ~June 2016. Again, as a newly to this site, I was wondering what the GW forum population thinks about having an outside electronics company install the goodies; vs the dealer?
I have Garmin in my "little airplane" so I plan to utilize Garmin products. So, have our GW bro's have had better experiences with the GW dealer installations, or should I look to an electronics installer, after the purchase.

Again, thanks for your guidance!!!

Larry

If I had a new boat...I wouldn't let anyone else touch it. Period.

The only reason I let Toyota service my truck is because I don't plan on keeping it for the long haul. :D

If you can, negotiate it when you buy - better yet get them to do it at cost or free.
The dealer likely uses an outside firm anyway. If not careful, they may mark it up so shop around.
I'd probably go with the dealer installer. They probably toss him a lot of business and he knows the GWs inside and out.
