Hi All, my partner and I are looking to purchase a GW Adventure 208. Prefer a decent/newer 200hp engine with it. We are in California so looking up and down the west coast. We’ve seen and know of everything on Craigslist and the trader websites… just throwing this out there in case someone in the forum is thinking of selling.
Thank you.

Hi, yes, still looking. Thank you.
1. Does it have a trailer?
2. What year is the motor?
3. What type of fuel burn does it get?
4. What is the asking price?
Thank you.

Look in for sale, Gary just posted his 2021. I know that boat, it's in like new condition, has a trailer, everything is super clean. I personally think he priced it too low when a 218 is $167K.

Jim,

the downsides are no trailer and no hard top. The hardtop would price $10-15K higher, similarly for a newer trailer.

That said, that is a LOT of boat for $25K. If I were buying it, I'd have it surveyed, look in the bilge, etc, but if that came out well, I'd jump on this boat. My buddy has a 1999 228 that was in my driveway next to mine recently (he got my hard top). You had to look really closely to see any difference from the 1999 hull to the 2020 hull. Grady makes a good boat, someone is gonna get a sweet deal on your 208.

If anything, I think you have it priced low. Those were $100K out the door with a trailer and hard top in 2020. Knock off $30K for HT & trailer, you are at $70K. Knock off another 50% for the age and you are at $35K. I think $25K is a steal if it passes the survey. Though if that Etec is noisy, that would slow me down, I love how quiet my 250 is at idle, you almost don't know it is on.

Advertise down south, more money around LA & San Diego.

Good luck!

If you're looking strictly for a west coast only boat, I'd be looking at this one. But we also need a few other details here like your budget, are you needing a trailer and so forth? If not only looking on the west coast, I'd highly suggest looking back east where you'll find boats that are oftentimes half the price or less than what they sell for out here. I bought my boat in Maryland back in October of 2021 for $26,500 and one almost identical to it sold up here in Edmonds a couple weeks ago at the local Grady White dealer for $65k. I personally won't buy a boat without a hardtop, unless it's an absolute steal, as they only increase the value of the boat and they help keep you out of the elements. Here's one for sale locally up here close to me for $70k and is a 2018, but it doesn't come with a trailer.

Hi All,

Thank you for your responses.
We are still on the hunt and are searching nationwide at this point. We’ve been close and done a couple surveys but haven’t found the unicorn yet. Our preferences:
- Grady 208
- 1997 or later hull (polymer fuel tank)
- 2015 or later engine (flexible)
- 4 stroke 200hp
- trailer if far from southern/central Cali

Looking on the $30k range (unicorn)
If you know of anything…. Please send our way.
Thank you

I doubt you’re going to get a 2015 and newer motor, especially if your max budget is only $30k. If what you meant by your comment above is that you’re looking somewhere in the $30k-$40k range, then that would be a bit more realistic. I’d almost be looking on the east coast only at this point as the prices out there are oftentimes about half of what they sell for out here. I bought my boat out in Maryland back in October of 2021 for $26.5k, of which it’s a 2004 GW 228 Seafarer with the factory hardtop, Yamaha F225, 2009 aluminum I-beam trailer and so forth. Out here in the Seattle area where I live, it’s a $55k+ boat every day of the week. I’d focus on finding one with a hardtop as well, if that matters to you, as lots of people will buy one without a hardtop and then later on spend $10k+ adding an aftermarket hardtop to their boat. If I were in your situation, I’d be looking at this boat right here… It doesn’t have the 200 hp motor like you want but from what I’ve read, the 150 will go almost 40 mph. Which is all I need to go when out on the water. The second link is a 208 Adventure minus the hardtop, with a newer motor but it doesn’t come with a trailer. As mentioned above, I doubt you’re going to get everything you’re wanting for $30k or less, especially on the west coast.

I will be listing my 2007 Adventure 208 shortly. It’s a factory hard top, new canvas, repowered with 2023 Yamaha 200 with integrated steering (warranty until 8/2028). New Garmin 943 sxv chartplotter, older GMR 18 radar dome but works well. Cushions are immaculate

I’m not at $30k, it will be more like $50k but figured I would throw it out there.

My wife and I were making the boat exactly how we wanted it until we came across a bigger boat that we couldn’t pass on.

Hi Natron,
We have upped our price range and I am interested to see more of what you have.
Do you have any more pictures? Interior, switch board, seats…etc.Would love to see the transom area and bolts around the lower unit (water in the transom being our concern).

We are actually really close on a boat ( marine survey tomorrow) but I’d love to explore more about yours. Please send any more pics.
Thanks

Hi SB Grady Hope,

I will have some more interior photos in the next couple of days for you. Looking through my photos I only have pictures with family and friends! I don’t want to post them online without consent.

I’m a couple weeks premature on actually listing ours for sale but I saw your note.
I’ll be in touch soon.

Thanks,
Nate

Thank you Getemwet,
Yes, I have seen that one online… it is a beauty but double our budget, unfortunately. Let me know if you ever run a 50% off sale :p

Hi All,
Thank you for looking out for us...
Been close on a few boats and have had our hearts broken. The marine surveys and moisture readings have us convinced that we know need to up our price again and go for a newer year. It looks like in 2017 they switched to an all composite transom/stringer system… so this is what we’re after now.

Forgive me for the long search… we are learning a lot from the process and are still excited about the eventual outcome (our dream 208). Here is the updated criteria. Thank you for keeping your eyes peeled.

2017 or newer 208
200 HP engine (newer better of course)

Thank you!

It's not a 2017 and newer, but this one just popped up on the local Craigslist for me the other day. Might be worth looking into?
