Hi All,

I see that the new Express 330's are offered with the Yamaha 425's. I know that our 2008 Express 330 is 'rated' for 300's maximum.

I was wondering if anyone has looked into re-powering an older Express 330 with 425's? Can it handle it?

Keith.

GW probably beefed up the transom (what they have done in the past) but you could always reach out to Customer Service via the web with your inquiry. Prob the best place to go and they are very good about getting back to folks.

My buddy has the twin 350 dual prop Suzuki’s in a 2003 33’ express and it’s holding up nicely. I wish my 265 express would hold those 350 I would of loved those motors on my boat.

Don't forget the potential insurability issue if the boat is over powered.

425's weren't available 12 years ago. Were 350HP's even available then? Meaning, the only reason that 300HP was listed on your capacity plate might be because that was the largest that was available. And, it's possible that no reinforcing was done as maybe it was/is already strong enough. Either way, check with Grady - if everything is still the same, they may be able to issue a new capacity plate.

I asked GW a question about max HP on 330s a few months back. This is the response I got:

The HP rating changed from 500 HP to 600 on our 2004 model year boat. We also went to the Twin F-350 in 2009 (see 2009 brochure spec sheet). You can install the Twin Yamaha F-300’s from 2004 to 2008 and in 2009 to 2018 you can install the Twin F-350’s. Note that on our 2019 330 Express the max HP is listed at 850. Please let us know if we can further assist you.

Kind Regards,

Kinda what I expected. Might be good to prod a little more and see what was done to increase the HP. They probably won't say you can do it, but if you knew what to do you could always do it yourself. There is always Option 0.
