I have a Grady 228 Seafarer with a 2006 225 hp yami. My tach gauge has a flashing symbol that is not explained in the manual. Can someone tell me what it means?1000000049.jpg

If the gauge has been working correctly until now then the dip switches would not be a problem. the switches are set for 2 stroke or 4. If not it could bea disconnected wire going to gauge, a bad oil pressure sensor or low oil pressure issue that needs to be looked into. the only other flasing symbol I have heard on these gauges is a maintenance reminder that needs to be reset for it to go away. Google can know give info on how to reset it

Does your motor have a fuel filter with a water detection signal wire?

It appears not too. I read on a forum that the symbol is a water detection warning. It also talked about the red ring inside the cartridge will float if water is present. Red ring is at the bottom and no wires. This symbol has not been on in the past. Now I'm more confused.

SIM is Ship Island Marine. An excellent source for accurate information, and OEM parts. Google it, or look for their banner on the website here, which is currently at the bottom of the page on my phone.

The gauge will enable the water detection function if it thinks that your motor has that detection circuitry.
I am not sure how to eneble/disable the alarm but if the engine model specified in the setup supports water detection then the feature on the gauge will be activated.
Have you played with the gauge configurations? Has the motor model changed?

I have not change anything. No wiring to the fuel filter, so I assume no sensor. The gauge never showed this symbol before. I just showed up.

Weird indeed! When there is a water sensor, I don't know if the signal runs directly to the gauge or if it goes to the ECU which in turn sends a signal to the gauge.
The only thing that I would try is checking all the harness connectors for corrosion or the like as well as the connectors on the ECU , again for possible corrosion, water intrusion etc.

Thanks that makes since. If I don't have sensor wires, indeed the connection pins ma still be in a connector harness.
