Had some beers and Bluefin with my mechanic the other day and I asked him about this technology. They are a dealer and have installed a few with great feedback. Anyone on here have real world experience running one of these systems. Not the gyro system, the interceptor blade types.
Thinking they might be a nice add on for my 265 Express

no experience with either.

i did install a Bennett Auto Trim Pro on my Marlin this past summer. Trim tabs were factory so it was just a control box and switch swap. Around $500. seems to do what it is supposed to. need more running time next season for a "final" assessment.

good luck, ron

I had a sea trial on a 26 foot dual console recently that was equipped with Seakeeper Ride. The seas weren't too bad but the wind was blowing. The system does not go active untill a minimum of 10MPH boat speed. There is a very noticeable change in both rolling and pitching when the system is engaged.
Th system is not cheap though starting at somewhere in the order of $4500 not including install. I did additional research on the product and it appears to have a few useful configuration options. For example, the system can be programmed to reduce roll on hard turns when at speed. The pitch angle can be reduced when getting on plane if so desired.
The system i not active until boat speed is at least 10 MPH

265 has pockets for tabs. Tab actuators are special short ones. Last I looked the Bennett Auto/Indicator tab kit would not work on the short actuators
Are Seakeeper going to work there or do you have to fill the tab pockets?

IMO Can't justify $4500 for seakeeper tabs on an old 265. Rides pretty good at 30mph with no tabs at all... If it were a new 30' CC running 50+mph yea

you should call Bennett and talk with them. extremely helpful crew. the installation instructions note that the indicators won't work unless you install the sensors, but it doesn't say the ATP wouldn't work.

a 330 in the marina had the seakeepers installed. the tab pockets were glassed in as the system mounts directly to the transom.

good luck, ron

I don't have real world experience with either of the systems, but understand how they work and what they do.

Nowadays are several systems on the market, ZipWake and Humphree as the first ones, SK Ride came later and is the most expensive one and some new systems from Europe doing the same and maybe beeing cheaper than the others.

Trim Tabs and Interceptors are very different in actuator speed and the Bennet AutoTab Control (now AutoTrim Pro) is a basic version keeping a boat on a previously set trim and list level. Interceptor based systems can act much more faster and that allows them to keep a boat on a desired level even under very choppy conditions due the fast reaction time of Interceptor style trim control.

If you want your boat glide like a magic carpet over 80% of the sea states you encounter then one of the interceptor based systems is for you, do you boat with low wave action or enjoy manual control then you are wasting money.

Yes, hulls who have trim tab pockets need to have them glassed flush to be able to install the interceptors correctly.

Should i have to replace my trim tabs i probably would go with Interceptors instead of normal trim tabs, but not with any automatic trim control system for two reasons
a) i don't need nor want a magic carpet
b) i don't trust automatic trim control, if the interceptor goes nuts at 40mph then potentially dangerous situation may happen

Interceptors are claimed as more fuel efficient than same lift providing trim tabs but biggest advantage is that the blade retracts inside the interceptors housing if system is off and there the blade is protected from fouling.

Whoever is interested in one of those system should do a sea trial to see if he likes what those systems do and if it's for him worth to fork out a substantial amount of $$$.
