    2 questions, adventure 208

sal353 I repowered in 2006 my 1999 208 with a 2006 Mercury Verado 150 when I too was concerned about motor weight and enough torque to get on plane. An I4 200 was not available at that time. Here is what I know. I do not have a hardtop on the boat. Viewing the boat without anyone aboard but...

    Overnighter w/ Merc 150 4 stroke performance?

I repowered my 1999 208 Adventure (no hardtop) with a 150hp Mercury Verado (4-stroke), which I think is a successor to the Overnighter. Had a 200 Optimax previously. I have run the Verado for 8 years now and can say that it works fine for me. I too was concerned about weight since the boat...

    208 Adventure buying advice

I don't agree that a 4-stroke 150 hp engine is not enough for a 208 Adventure. Here is my experience. My boat is a 1999 208 Adventure w/o a hardtop. The engine, however, is a Mercury Verado 150 hp not a Yamaha F150. My engine probably produces more low-end torque than the Yamaha. With a...

    Side-scanner transducer location

The new Lowarance StructureScan transducers for side imaging are now 11" long including the mount. From the picture, you can see that the 90 degree port-side signal will partially interfere with the engine and possibly affect the port-side image. This is the transom of 208 Adventure. Will this...

    Question on 1994 208 Adventure

Repowered my '99 208 Adventure with a Mercury 150hp Verado. I know it is supercharged compared with the Yamaha, but I don't think the boat is underpowered. The boat hops right up on plane and makes about 38 mph WOT with close to 4 mpg at cruise. Initially, I had an aluminum prop but it...

    Mounting a side-scanning transducer

Has anyone sucessfully mounted a side-scanning transducer on the transom of an 208 Adventure or similar hull? The newer StructureScan transducers are 11" long protrude into the engine space (see picture). This may cause signal interference and a degraded image. Is there a better location than...

    208 Adventure on order - Electronic's question

I have a 208 and an aversion to drilling holes in a nice boat especially when electronic technology changes so rapidly, which requires when nmew units are purchased. I mounted the VHF under the dash and behind the ignition switch location. The Lowrance 5" display sonar/chartplotter is mounted...

    208 Adventure feedback

Here is some feedback on the 208 Adventure that I bought new in 1999 and have owned for 12 years. The boat initially had a 200 Mercury Optimax, but 6 years ago I repowered with a 150 Mercury Verado 4-stroke to reduce the noise level. There is no hard top, just a Bimini top. With 2 people...

    150 hp for 208Adventurer

I have a 208 Adventure without a hardtop. The boat was repowered from a 200 hp 2-stroke engine to a Mercury Verado 4-stroke. The boat gets on plane easily with a full load of fuel and two persons on board with the usuall equipment and supplies. The speed tops out at between 38 and 40 mph and...

    GW 275 Tournament Cavitation Problem

Prop ventilation Had this ventilation problem in a following sea when I repowered my 208 to a single 4-stroke. Initially, I had an aluminum prop. Changing to a stainless steel prop cured the problem. I use an Inertia prop on a 150 hp Verado 4-stroke engine. Maybe there is a useful thought here.

    Horn not working, help

Have you tried taking off the horn cap and adjusting the set screw while pressing the horn button? This worked for me when the horn would no longer sound.

Took The Grady out yesterday do these numbers sound right?

Before repowering my 208 Adventure, I had a 200hp Mercury Optimax outboard on the boat. The WOT speed was 42 mph under calm conditions with full fuel, 2 people, and the usual collection of equipment. Your boat speed is right on the mark. Repowering with a Mercury Verado 150hp, dropped the WOT...
