    228 is a beauty

Looks very clean, seems almost too good to be true. Someone is getting a nice boat.

    Engine trim with batteries off?

I have a 2020 yamaha and the batteries have to be on to trim the engines. Doesn't matter if the key is off. Not sure that helps you with your zukes.

New Yamaha 300 wouldn't go over 2000 RPMs...

"47mph - not blazing fast"? I think that's around top advertised speed for my 228 with a 250, I've had it up to 43mph WOT. I don't get that people say that is not fast, it's fast enough that if anything unexpected happens you are going to have a very bad day. Most of my runs in the Pacific...

New Yamaha 300 wouldn't go over 2000 RPMs...

Those engines have fairly intelligent ECUs, they know to warn you about service intervals so they know the hours. Is it possible that it was enforcing the low RPM break in period? Is that a thing now? Whatever, you are going to *love* that 300, great engine. I hitchhike on a buddies Canyon...

Trim Tab Replacement Recomendations/2005, 330 Express

I can't speak to the 330 express but on my 228 the stock tabs were way undersized. The Bennett website said the stock ones were for a 17 foot boat. I upgraded from 9x12 to 12x18 and couldn't be happier. I found mine on Amazon.

    New Suzukis

Is it an option to get digital controls? I've had mechanical and digital, once you have digital you will never go back to cables (or at least, I won't). There is no dead spot in digital, at least not in my Yamaha 250. Very sensitive.

    SS Deck Chairs

Duh, you're right of course. Polished aluminum. Stainless would be spendy.

    SS Deck Chairs

Those craigslist chairs look just like what I got. Maybe same thing under a different brand? Just a reminder, true stainless is not magnetic. Cheaper stuff tends to be steel with a coating so a magnet is your friend.

    SS Deck Chairs

I bought Leader Accessories Portable Folding Deck Chair from Amazon but they seem to be out of stock everywhere. I'm happy with mine, I think it was about $150 or so. If you can find one, they seem good. Alternatively, get a bean bag from West Marine.

    228 is a beauty

Great Grady is the most welcoming forum I've been on. Full of information and full of nice people. I just spent the day out crabbing on my 228 and it was a blast. If you upgrade to a 228 you will love it.

    228 is a beauty

Just so the forum knows, Timcam is one of my friends, also with a 228 (he's the guy changing out the gas tanks). We fish together all the time and when I'm tackling a project that is frustrating me, like swapping out the noisy livewell pump, he comes up and pushes me aside and does it. Good to...

    228 is a beauty

Are you warm climate or cold? I think most of us who love our 228s are in cold, I'm northern California, Mustang is Seattle. Us cold climate people can't believe that Grady stopped making the 228, it's the perfect boat if you want to trailer and want warmth. As for overpriced at $90K, my boat...

    228 is a beauty

31 feet with my 250 down, more if you store the engine up. I can get you a measurement with it up, probably another 12-18 inches. I'm on a Pacific trailer. It's quite an upgrade from a 208, I looked at the 208, had the choice between that and the 228 when I bought. 2 more feet of cockpit...

Newbie needs help please_FIRST boat- new vs. used GW?

And sole and and sable fish and rockies and lings. And bluefin if they come back and albacore up at Fort Bragg. And crab. And maybe we learn (or I learn) how to target white seabass. No salmon sucks, I feel it, but it's not like the ocean has nothing else. Tight lines out there, if you...

    The Right Boat

Another vote for a Seafarer 228. I've got one, almost upgraded to a Marlin 300, but the 228 just checked more boxes for me. If you know what you are doing, a 60 mile run off shore for tuna is fine in that boat. Just have to pick your days. I looked long and hard before I bought my 228. It's...

    232 vs 228?

I've been quiet because I've been dealing with that rain. Before it rained, i was on my Kubota M59 dragging the ditches, my helper was on my Kubota B21 picking up my piles and dumping them over the edge. We got the ditches in pretty reasonable shape before the rain. I left a Kubota KX 161...

    232 vs 228?

My desire for a bigger boat is because of my feet, they are so fucked, I'm in pain all the time. They are what turned me to ocean fishing, I'm still learning ocean stuff, but if you want to fly fish? I'm not as good as a guide who does it 300 days a year, but I'm better than anyone who is not...

    232 vs 228?

Magicbill, you can always speak for me, you know your stuff. I'm pretty convinced I want to stay with my 228. I love the digital throttle on my engine, there is no way I'd go back to cables controlling the throttle. I also love how reliable everything has gotten, I don't want to go back to...
