    Sharrow Props

I would disagree in part and think that the biggest thing any boater, or anyone else in general, can do would be to shop around. I live in the Seattle area and prices for my boat are in the $55k-$65k range, yet I bought my boat out in Maryland for $26.5k. I could've bought the boat outright, but...

    Boat Separation

Exactly. If the boat was in year round and all it took was some decent weather for the day and the turn of the key, then of course I'd be out fishing more in the wintertime. That being said, when fishing is closed down and the boat has been winterized for the season, I don't really have much...

    Grady White Journey 258

This is now an 11+ year old thread and the original poster hasn't been back since October of 2012. I'm hoping that they found a boat during that time, whether it's a Grady White or not. My advice would be to try posting the boat in the For Sale/Wanted section of the forum with some pictures, a...

    Boat Separation

To me, I have no issue with being out on a boat when it's cold or whatnot, and have even been out fishing for tournaments or derbies when it was snowing outside. That being said, the biggest issue for me is pulling the boat out of the shop, de-winterizing it, going out and going fishing a couple...

    Sharrow Props

This topic was brought up last year and I remember doing the math on it, but it wasn't exactly favorable in terms of numbers imo. For a Yamaha F250 at the time, their claim was to be able to get "up to 30% better" on fuel economy numbers than a standard prop. I did the math and figured it would...

    Trailer for ‘01 282 Sailfish

Obviously not exactly an apples to apples comparison... but a brand new Grady White 285 Freedom has an "as tested" weight of over 9,300 lbs, which is I'm thinking going to be pretty similar to your 282 Sailfish weight, especially when you're moderately or fully loaded down. I'd honestly get a...

    Boat Separation

I was fishing quite a bit during the summer, oftentimes 3-4 times a week or more depending on the circumstances, schedules and so forth. At times, I got a little burnt out going out every day for 4-5 days in a row and sometimes being out 3-4+ hours each time I was out. Now I definitely miss it...

I'd err on the side of caution and take the trailer to a shop regardless if you see anything or not, as two sets of eyes are always better than one. Working in a shop is much easier than doing something on the side of the highway in dark or potentially less than favorable conditions. Not sure if...

    Grady Fire.

Well... if I were a betting man I'd say it likely started in the stern near the batteries, outboard or fuel tank. A little bit of situational awareness, acting quickly and using an extinguisher or two could've changed the outcome of the story for the better. Fortunately no one was injured.

WTB: Grady White Old Style Rod Holder 15 or 30 Degree Angle

Unless you can find someone willing to sell their old/used ones, I don't think you're going to have much luck as they have a different style of rod holder out now that's much more rounded off. I think something like the first link might be your best bet for buying new, or you could upgrade what...

Congrats! And yes, I think you're going to be much happier as well as even money ahead buying a boat back east, and you'll have a fun story to tell on top of that. Just make sure you have a shop look over the trailer with a fine tooth comb, repack the bearings, check the brakes, tires, etc... as...

    270 islander MPG

Here's an article with some of the information you're looking for. I believe that the 270 Islander was discontinued after 2005, so you're likely not going to find a ton of information out there because of that. Depending on how many people respond to the thread here, I'd email or reach out to...

    2000 Marlin

Great looking fish you got there. I caught a 34" silver over the summer, which was by far the biggest silver I'd ever caught and even one of the biggest salmon I'd ever caught before.

    New Electronics

Could you make a bracket to fit the current holes on the hardtop from the old unit and then have the holes on the top of the bracket fit the new Garmin radar?

I think you're going to have to change up at least one, if not multiple things, as you're not going to find a 232 Gulfstream with twin outboards on it, a kicker and everything else mentioned for $50k. Or at least you're not going to be able to find something like that locally on even on the west...

I think I'd honestly increase your budget a bit and go with something like this instead where it's already got twin outboards, is 7 years newer, has a trailer as well as radar, electronics and so forth. I also like the design much better on the 2006 and newer 232 Gulfstream's where they've got...

Depending on how much fishing you do over the winter... I'd wait a few months before you buy and see how prices are then. My guess is that during December or January you'll see even lower prices than they are currently, which would be the best time to buy. What is the asking price on the boat...

    Twist Latch

I'd go with something like this which is an OEM Grady White part, though it obviously doesn't have to be and you could spend $10 on something similar. But, it's a bit nicer looking and would hopefully cover up the existing screw hole and discoloration from what you currently have...

Greetings brother to the north of us, I'm south of you down here in the Seattle area, welcome to the forum. There are a fair amount of Grady White's down here in the Seattle area as Jacobsen's Marine in Edmonds is the only GW dealer in the PNW region. Though, I do believe there is one up in...
