    Solar battery charger/maintainer

Hi Dogdoc. Thanks for the reply. What I have is two(2) batteries (house/deep cycle and start) and the whole idea is to maintain the deep cycle charged because it gets very low due to the bilge pump and rain. the other situation is the distance between the batteries and the hardtop, what do you...

I have a 268 Islander that has no windlass. Looking at the chain/rope storage space I found a wire w/ a " windlass". tag, probably from factory. My question /questions is/are: What brand would be better for it? (Lewmar or Maxwell). Shall I use that wire for powering it? Shall i use chain only...

    Help w/ the Head .

Well, Yes I do not intend to discharge inshore, I know that one must be at minimum of 3 miles out for discharge, my question was more to do with intake because would be a pain to be going to the seacock at any time someone would use the toilet. Thanks guys.

    Help w/ the Head .

Thanks. I will try to see if the problem is w/ the seacock or the pump. By the way. do you leave the two seacocks valves always open or open and close as you need ?

    Help w/ the Head .

Ok. Let's start for what I forgot to tell. The boat is a 1998 268 Islander. The toilet is a Jabsco 29020-2000 Manual toilet standard bowl ( hand pump ). There are 2 Seacocks under the stairs (one for inlet on the starboard side and the other on port side for the discharge). If I drop water from...

    Help w/ the Head .

This past week end I went to the water and tried to check the condition of my boat's Head. The jabsco is the type w/ push pump and it uses sea water for flushing. I started opening the valve under the stairs for the water to come in and nothing, then i dropped some water from the sink and the...

    Cockpit dome light

Hookup1 I had no idea that GW did that, I now have a dome light w/ dual colors LED and the spread light is working on a push button switch installed on the box of the hard top. To tell you the truth, I like this way better.

    Cockpit dome light

My dome light stopped working so, I tried to remove the lens and change the bulb (courtesy light ) IMPOSSIBLE !!! I ended up braking the fixture, the lens didn't come of. So I was looking for a replacement and nowhere it can be found. T My solution was to buy a dual color LED 4" dome light on...

    Solar power

Seasick and dogdoc . Thanks for the answers. Now. let me be clear: My boat stays in a place where there is not a chance of having an extension to connect to the factory supplied charger, my idea is to have a solar keeping/ maintaining the batteries charged as well as if I'm on the water (w/ the...

    Solar power

    New Hatch for Islander.

Hi Guys. I did it myself!!! I had a piece of 5 ply 5/8" from an old job and used it to do the re-core. I made the stiffening pieces (like a ladder) w/ 2 pieces of the same plywood screwed and glued together. Reading/learning on the web i decided to use epoxy for sealing the plywood and glue on...

Islander 268 - Anyone ever pulled forward gas tank

Hi Guys. I did screwed up. Found out that the "missing tank" is not the main, it's the reserve ( 72 gallons). and I guess this boat never had it since there is only one intake for gasoline.
