Got a Good Hull Gash Yesterday

Thanks, after doing a little research this looks like the route to go. A little pricey for only needing a small amount but I want it done right. The old saying is only go as fast as you want to hit something, but a low tide with most of the dock out of the water plus strong crosswinds got me.

Got a Good Hull Gash Yesterday

Well yesterday coming into the dock like I have done many times before, I hit pretty hard. Now I have this gash in the fiberglass I need to repair. I know I can use a marine epoxy and sand smooth but how do you come close to matching the color?

    Rain water?

Actually that is not the case, the tube is clear. The issue is the bottom of the hull at midship is much lower than the drain plug. Unfortunately water doesn't run uphill. Even raising my trailer jack as high as it can go still isn't high enough. So I guess what I am saying if your boat is close...

    Rain water?

I have the 205 and I can get water in my bilge mid ship fwd that won't drain because of the Grady hull design. I can't raise the trailer jack high enough for it to come aft enough to drain out the stern. Most of the water comes from the anchor locker that drains directly in the bilge, the genius...

I'm back - sorry to be absent

Hey I had that same surgery when I was 9 years old, I am 64 now. I remember my Mom and Dad telling me I wouldn't feel a thing, they were half right. Didn't feel anything during the surgery but when I came to, Oh my the pain. I am sure the procedure is better today but never had another problem...

    Best boat trailering stories

This didn't happen to me but it happened to some friends of mine. Back in the day most pickup trucks were single cab and it was nothing for people to ride in the bed. Well these guys had been out fishing all day which also means lots of beer consumed. Well they were all trailered up and heading...

Coast Guard: Vessel Kill Switches Required By Law Starting Next Month

OK, dummy me. This topic has already been discussed on this forum and I actually remember it now. Anyway after reading the law just recently I understand it more.

Coast Guard: Vessel Kill Switches Required By Law Starting Next Month

No I think it means the helm needs to be located in the cabin for it not to be required which will rule out most 26' boats.

Coast Guard: Vessel Kill Switches Required By Law Starting Next Month

Well it was just a matter of time, life jackets are next. Boaters operating vessels under 26 feet long will be required to use an engine kill switch beginning next month, officials said. The United States Coast Guard announced the new requirement after the law was passed by Congress.

    Freedom Bow Storage Gets Wet

No not really. I do keep mine under cover so I usually just let it dry out first which involves removing the contents. I have just learned to live with it along with the anchor locker draining into the forward bilge.

    222 model no livewell??

I know when I bought my 205 used it was like crap, " no live well". The deal was just too good to pass up though and have learned to appreciate the cooler. I just use a insulated 5 gallon bait bucket when I am using live bait.

    “Gelcoat Saver” for anchoring

I could see how easily if the person pulling up the anchor is careless or maybe not strong enough to handle it.

Towing with Bimini top - Freedom 225

I have a 205 Freedom and I tow with mine up all the time. My frame is a little different than yours but when folded up with the boot on this thing ain't going nowhere. I do confess if I am towing a long distance I will use a few bungees to tighten the boot up.

    Kill Switch

I am OK with it. I will use mine when running the river but never use it on the open Gulf. About everytime I do use it I will pull it out when I come back to idle which is aggravating.

    Higher Fuel Prices

What I am afraid of is burdensome regulations put on domestic oil production driving up the cost putting OPEC back in play. They have had us over a barrel before and it will happen again. People won't be buying the large boats, SUV's, and full size pickup trucks, history may repeat itself but...

    Higher Fuel Prices

Something to be mindful of with all the events going on is about higher fuel prices. As we know this hits the boating community quite hard, just hoping it doesn't get out of control.

Looking at a 2005 185 Tournament - hull damage question

You would have to want it pretty bad for that price and maybe you do. On the other hand how badly does he want to sell it? Make him a offer.

    Gratitude

Fair enough. Like you I'm retired and own a Grady but don't consider myself old yet. But we have to agree that social media can be unruly to say the least. I would bet the majority of the people on THT are on the entire Gulf Coast around Florida up to the Carolinas. I know there is a lot of...

    Gratitude

I love THT, but mostly for entertainment value and you have to weed out the good with the bad. You have a little more leeway and if you post something controversial or political then you are fair game. If your feelings get hurt that easy you may not want to go there.

    Any New Zealand owners here?

Everyone is welcome to leave, round up as many as you can and go somewhere else where the police won't beat you up or worse.
