    1998 Marlin $44k NOT MINE

I've seen this boat on FB, looks pretty decent for being about the cheapest 300 on the market

    NJ fishing reports

Clouds and clouds of presumably sand eels in the lower third of the water column on the SGR yesterday. Mostly seabass chasing them in the breif time we were there.

    Mystery Badge?

Seems like that hole in the middle should be the clue but I've got nothing. Google image search just shows a bunch of ancient Chinese jewelry :D

    Evinrude G2 motors...need opinions

Like most things it's a matter of what price discount you can get for taking on a less marketable component. If you're comparing them straight up to a late model Yamaha for the same money they're obviously going to look like a bad deal, but in the real world that's never the case, there will...

Not That Anyone Asked: My 226 Seafarer 1-Year Review

Going from memory WOT RPM is in the 5300-5400 range, maybe a touch less when trimmed fully in and vice versa. WOT 38-40 statute MPH. Boat does not like to spin counterclockwise in reverse but otherwise I find the slow speed handling to be good. Prop is a 4-blade Renegade. Unfortunately I don't...

    Motor selection for Seafarer 22

I'd hazard a guess that in the 13 years since this thread started he may have settled on a decision :p

    Replacement cushions for seafarer

Obviously you know your use case the best but I find on my seafarer the seats above the LW and storage box are not usually a big draw (especially the one behind the helm chair where there's no back rest). You could always grab a spare throwable PFD and use them for those spots in a pinch.

Clearly I know nothing about wiring

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00144EQV0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1 Here it is. It appears to be a pretty exact match aside from the wiring and the different bulb type.

Clearly I know nothing about wiring

My green bow light is toast, the bulb is not working and is all corroded into the socket. I bought a replacement fixture that seems to be the closest replica to the original part that's currently made (boat is a 1994 so I realize the components have changed a bit) Old on the left, new on the...

Jumping out of my skin - anyone else?

Mar 28 in CT! That is a personal record for earliest, and I will say that I have not fished yet (and we did have a storm with 60mph gusts in the meantime), nonetheless when the opportunity presents itself to go I'm ready.

    Prop for etec 200 seafarer?

Might want to think about 4-blade, I have a similar setup and it seems to produce good handling and stern lift. 38 with a 200 seems pretty solid, I'll maybe get to 40 with my 200HO. Unfortunately not sure on my prop specs.

Advise before pulling trigger on 1990s 226s

Hmm. 226 owner here, the 4cly 200hp is not the optimal power but it may be adequate if your expectations are reasonable. It'll be a very efficient package so I'd suggest not really using the aux tank to manage the weight. The lack of engine warranty on an engine that new and generally reliable...

    Power 225 up to 300 24 offshore

The $11k motor is 200hp, I think that's alot of boat for the yamaha 4 cylinder. OP I think ruling that out is a good call. I would think 60 extra lbs on a boat of that size would be fairly inconsequential but stick a few water buckets by the transom and see how she runs if you're on the fence...

    Power 225 up to 300 24 offshore

Unless you've had major issues with water through the splashwell (such that it's very important to get the extra 5" of transom) I think going with the higher HP option at the cheaper price is a pretty clear cut answer...

    265 Express with Bracket

Let's think of the pros and cons here Downside case is that performance and handling are totally shot by completely changing the weight distribution in a way that was never intended, ruining the usefulness and market value of the boat Upside is what exactly? A few more MPH and not having to...

    Day Dreaming ...upgrading

My fantasy upgrade is definitely the Marlin (although, for now, fantasy is certainly an accurate term!) One thing I've noticed is that in the used market the Marlin price premium over the Sailfish seems to be pretty small relative to the large size difference (factoring in beam and weight). I...

    Suzuki 200 Fly by Wire

More HP is generally better and you can rarely go wrong with maxing out relative to your HP rating BUT Given how many 268s/270s seem to be out there running around on single 250 OX66s I wonder if the 2x 200hp option wouldn't also provide solid performance with a little better efficiency and...
