    Sharrow Props

It's an interesting point because there's a small set of the world who's primary use case involves pushing their boats way offshore. They might go for these in the hopes that they can squeeze out 5% more range, even if the investment will never pay itself back in the economic sense.

New Grady or Used Pursuit for First Time Boat Buyer/Owner

Personally I'd consider the two on pretty equal footing and almost remove the brand from your thinking. My general impression is that GW may have a very small ride/performance advantage while Pursuit may have the same for fit and finish, but both are quite subjective. But the far bigger...

Poor Grady-White support for older boats.

Right or wrong, I don't really know that there are a ton of industries in which OEMs provide excellent support with things like soft materials for 18 year old vehicles/machinery. At that age, I don't know that Grady could provide such great economies of scale on the parts that they'd really be...

    Argo app

I've been messing around with it too. Like the ability to see your position over top of the NOAA ENC charts as an additional resource to the cartography on my main GPS. Not sure I'd use it for heavy duty navigation but nifty for triangulating inshore fishing spots.

    Walk-around vs true fishing boat

If you're questioning whether the 232 fits the family, you can pretty quickly rule out the 218. Seems like the real question is can the 232 do the job or do you need to find something like a 265 or 272/282. These would significantly open up your long distance cruising abilities, and can be had...

    NJ fishing reports

Don't get down to NJ to fish much anymore but I made it down on Sat to run out of MI on my father's 23 Regulator. Hit the fleet at the tuna spot a ways off Seaside. Quickly got the hang of jigging squid, which seemed to be hugging the bottom and a bit scattered. Had baits in for a few hours...

    228 or 232?

Just bear in mind, 35-40kts is going to be more of a Wide Open Throttle speed in either boat most likely, and potentially on the lower end of that range in most configurations. You're probably limited to the 2x 200 config on the 232 or 250 on the 228 if that level of speed is a priority. Grady...

    218 Adventure vs. 232 Gulfstream

Since this thread is already fully derailed- this seems like an interesting story!

    218 Adventure vs. 232 Gulfstream

Not alot of direct experience with either boat, but my first thoughts upon reading this are as follows: - If I were spending $160k on a new 21' boat, I'd want to be 110% sure it was the winning boat for me for a decent amount of years. Seems to me that you could be risking nauseating...

    2002 GW 330 Express - w/ TRIPLE Suzuki 300's

Have you seen the one on the big boating forum in Ft Pierce? $75K less, looks very clean and has the correct number of Suzuki 300s (as opposed to 1.5x the correct amount)

1997 Seafarer 22 question - Water coming in from stern deck drains

You did the right thing. It may be true that the scuppers being slightly under water isn't an issue, but I still fail to see how it wouldn't be concerning that they're so far under water that there's standing water on the deck while at rest. That, combined with a bad report from a surveyor...

1997 Seafarer 22 question - Water coming in from stern deck drains

I guess my concern is that if the boat were sitting correctly, water would stay out of the stern even if there were no scupper flaps. I get that water can wash onto the deck when someone stands back there or a wave rolls up from behind, but it seems like OP is describing a different issue (water...

    265 Capsized of Jersey Coast

Check out the post here: https://www.facebook.com/TowBoatUSBarnegatLight/ I don't see anything in the pics to hint at what happened but maybe others can spot something. FWIW the TowBoat page commented "guessing water over the transom and bilges weren’t working"

1997 Seafarer 22 question - Water coming in from stern deck drains

You're saying there was 2" of standing water on the deck when the boat was stationary? Was there any visible object located in the stern adding weight? Can you also let us know what boat model (226/228) and engine? These models can be subject to water coming in through the scuppers when people...

Finally learned why people don't like the 228 swim platform

Wouldn't this issue be somewhat improved if the platform were designed (or modified) with "vents" for the water to pass through? I'm envisioning more of like a grid-looking design as opposed to a big flat sheet. I feel like you see this on big inboard boats with swim platforms sometimes...

    Transition to 275 or 285 from 225.

Can't really speak to the differences other than that the 28 appears to get you an additional foot of beam and 1500lbs of weight. But as to the seakeeping, there are of course lots of days where your 22' will be enough for the LIS, and plenty of days where none of the 22, 27, or 28 will be...

    Boat Advice

32mph WOT sounds light, even for that power. Have you messed around with props and engine mounting height at all?
