Pulling the trigger on a pilot house on the 228

    About time for an update.

    welding hardtop support

It can be a real problem on autos, maybe not so much on fiberglass boats, but I would disconnect everything from the batteries, and all plugs from electronics. You never know where a ground may end up.

    2003 Grady 232 Gulfstream

Sounds like fuel economy would be pretty bad, if those high cruise rpm's are necessary.

    Replace Jabsco Electric Conversion?

"......a shitty (pun intended) design", is okay, butt, I wouldn't have followed with, "easier pill to swallow."

Adding an Additional (emergency) Bilge Pump in the Stern - 2006 Marlin

If you are looking at Rule 2000, that's 1 1/8 discharge hose, not 1 1/2, which will be a lot more flexible, and easier to route. Look at where your 1 1/2 gen hose crosses your 1 1/8 bilge hose. The gen hose is closer to the camera, but still...

    258 Livewell drain hose replacement

If you do go that route, here’s an idea, since you can’t reach both sides of the connection at once. When you get ready to install the new one, run a line down through the opening and through the new bottom fixture, and the hose, and tie a big knot. Pull it up snug to the bottom of the hole...

    258 Livewell drain hose replacement

When I suggested cutting the flange and dropping everything out the bottom, I was thinking that it was like a through hull, with a nut screwed onto the bottom side. Family Affair may have nailed it, if the drain is like the fixture in this attachment, and screws in from the top. A closer look at...

    Help with 232 Gulfstream

First boat, or experienced boater ? A four blade prop may give you a noticeable change, but it won’t be a dramatic change in my experience. Given your numbers, you need a dramatic change. How is your engine trimmed? Are you using trim tabs? Is the boat’s bottom clean? How confident are you in...

    258 Livewell drain hose replacement

Other models, like the 228 and Tournament, have the same sort of seat bases, and have another pie plate on the front, for the fresh water pump. If you have to cut another, measure from the drain to find the closest access point, preferably for your strongest hand. I would hate to be wrestling...

So how did you remove it?

Yamaha 175 2stroke- Hard to start.

If the solenoid is working, you should be able to hear a click when you turn the key on and push it in. With the cowling and the silencer box off, you should be able to see the choke butterflies move, and hear the solenoid. I also thought that you meant to say, '..when you "opened" the choke...

Starboard side swim ladder with base

How many previous owners? May have gotten in the way of somebody’s fishing, or boarding from their dock, and still be in their garage.

Adding an Additional (emergency) Bilge Pump in the Stern - 2006 Marlin

That Atwood 1700 is pretty hefty, with 1 1/8 inch hose. You must be going with something like a Rule 3700, to be using inch and a half discharge hose. Looks like you have room, so I’m guessing that the access is difficult. How do you service the FP generator?

There is always another boat show deal. From what I saw, it is about a 10% discount. They are close enough to you that I would want to see some examples in person.

    power trim and tilt

Can’t speak to the F250, but on my OX225, it was a 10 mm socket and five minutes to remove and replace. Switch was $27.49 on Amazon. if like my last three Yamaha motors, that connection you found is three wires. Use a test light grounded to the block to see if you have power to one of the...

No, in the 80's we were still twisting wires together, and wrapping with black tape;). Butt crimps are a 60's thang.

    F-26 Tiger cat

They started with the walk around cabin, and it was too heavy in the front, causing erratic movement when a hull dug in, especially when loaded with gear. They tried to correct it with trim tabs, and were, and may still be, the only cat with factory installed trim tabs. The center console was a...
