Looking for the best family boat!

For family, bigger is better. Look at the 330 Express. However, not trailerable and requires a lift, dry storage, or a slip. Those factors may drive your choice. Good Luck!

Riding Out Isais in a Hurricane Hole

If you are not on a mooring buoy, I'd use two anchors placed about 30-45 degrees apart. Use chafing gear on the rodes and use as much chain and scope as the cleared area permits. The boat should be fine if not in open water. I'd remove all cushions and bolsters as well. I think I'd leave the...

Chart plotter and battery wiring question

Deep cycle batteries do not make good starting batteries. If they are not over built capacity wise the voltage drop will be quite a bit more than a regular starting battery. I have a bank of each type and start on the "starting" battery and use the deep cycle for house loads.

08’ 330 express Live well And wash down works one day. Doesn’t the next

The switches can be replaced individually, they pop out, but I'd look closely at the wiring under the panel. It is a bit of a rat's nest and the spade connectors are subject to corrosion and loosening. I replaced the rocker covers on my 2007 switches, but only because they were faded and hard...

08’ 330 express Live well And wash down works one day. Doesn’t the next

If they are like my 2007 330, the pumps are separate, baitwell in the bilge under the aft cabin panel and the washdown is behind the the port side aft cabin panel. Each have separate seacocks in the bilge under the aft cabin. I believe the red light he mentions is in the bait well. They each...

Need Fresh Batteries for 330 Express

I have done it. Not a big deal on my 2007 330, very easy to access. I opted for Group 31 batteries. My #1 bank are both starting batteries and my #2 bank are both deep cycle. Mine are currently Dekas, but I'm not sure there is a big difference if you get a well known brand. I put the house...

    2003 330 Vinyl Cockpit Trim

I too could use some, but not sure how much you'll have left and not sure how much I'd need to do a 330. I'll measure tomorrow and let me know how much you might have left after "teaklejr." Thanks!

    33 express water heater

It is accessible either thru the panel under the seat on the starboard side of the helm area or thru the starboard panel in the aft cabin. I don't remember which gives best access, but the helm area is easier to check.

2005 330 Express Air Conditioning Replacement

I have a 2007, but don't give up on your current unit until you have done troubleshooting with the automated system. Lots of good info available through the control panel. Could be something minor. Get the manual and see what the trouble codes tell you.

    2003 330 Vinyl Cockpit Trim

Thanks for the source. Do you remember what the specs/name of the trim you bought? They sure have lots of choices and I didn't see a match with a cursory look.

    Wood rot

It doesn't move at all. I keep a close eye on it!

    Wood rot

I have an 07 and it has greenwood XL which is a CCA (A=arsenic) marine plywood that is guaranteed not to rot. They started using in it the late 90s, but not sure when it was fully phased in. You can call GW customer service and they can tell you about your model and year. The transom caps have...

    Launched and running smooth

The odds of two engines having the same issue after maintenance by one individual are not slim. Eastern Airlines flight 855 out of Miami lost all three engines on an L1011 due to a maintenance error the night before. I followed them in a USCG aircraft as they barely made it over the beach to...

    2003 330 Vinyl Cockpit Trim

I think I used double sided exterior Scotch Extreme tape. It held well, but they get moldy and dirty pretty quickly. I should have used 303 or similar to seal after the acetone. Probably put it on my do list to redo the acetone and seal with something,

    2003 330 Vinyl Cockpit Trim

It is available on ebay from Taylor Marine. It is pretty expensive! I cleaned mine with acetone, stretched and re-glued. Let me know if you find a better source of supply...

2006 250 4 strokes, do they have exhaust issues and how many is too many hours?

I have 2006 F250s and the port one (LF250) had the corrosion issue at 240 hours and was covered under the warranty. The other one was scoped and was and is fine. I now have 1000 hours on them with no issues. They don't use any oil and run like new. I think usage and maintenance are the key...

Bleeding fuel line - Fisher Panda Generator

That may help, but I believe the filter is between the pump and the solenoid valve so the pump should fill the bowl if not pushing against an air lock. That is the purpose of opening the bleed valve on the top of the solenoid.

    Launched and running smooth

I actually replace mine every 75-100 hours, but just take them off and dump them to check the contents based on gallons of usage and put the same ones back on as their primary purpose is water separation, not filtration. I re-use the Yamaha ones after dumping them out, maybe once, and don't put...

    Launched and running smooth

I suggested that based on my experience with my new-to-me 4 year old 330 that had less than stellar care and feeding. Since the fuel is drawn from low in the tank, you can save yourself a lot of heartache by draining the fuel separators before they bypass poor quality fuel to the engines. It's...

    Launched and running smooth

If you suspect contaminated fuel, I'd dump the water separators into a clear jar every 10 hours or say 25 gallons and examine the contents. Getting contamination into the VST and past into the injectors can be expensive.
