    Graybeard:

Since you have posted your Marlin search with several different topics, I figured I'd start a new one so as not to de-rail your others. First, congrats on finally finding a suitable Marlin. Second: Have you ever docked/handled a boat this big? If you have, read no further and good luck with...

Continuing Great Loop - A few Pics

Great boating area around Pickwick & the Tom Entrance. The couple times I was there I stayed at Aqua Yacht Harbor. Your Journey looks good..Still gonna do the Lakes like we talked about?

Anyone sleep overnight on a Marlin 30

I also should've added Grandkids are flexible by nature. They'll tuck in any corner to sleep and consider it an adventure. I know of two couples in our Grady-White Club that just separate when it's time to turn in. One goes to the aft berth, the other forward to the V-berth so they can both...

Anyone sleep overnight on a Marlin 30

Roominess is subjective, people view "roominess" and "comfort" differently. Take your Better Half to someone's Marlin and have her go into the cabin. Have her climb into the aft berth & stretch out. Have her examine the V-berth forward and then she can give you her input before you commit to...

    Donations

Hey Seafarer: I'd like to make a donation. I've let it go too long and consequently, I've forgotten the procedure. I need to write a check and mail it to you. (I don't do the new-age hi falutin' stuff..) Could you give me the name to make the check out to and the mailing address, plus...

    Engines up or down ?

Same as Legend also. In the water, always up after flushing. On a trailer or staunchions on land, always down.

    232 question

Sorry about the setback..I know the feeling of getting jazzed about a purchase and then you have to pass because of obvious flaws. I'm sure you'll chomp at the bit while waiting, especially now that you've had a run aboard a 232. They are cool rigs, eh? However, you'll ultimately be happier...

    232 question

Hmm.. Might look at the bottom too. If it's been in the water awhile that would account for the lousy performance numbers. Even with bottom paint, they need to be dove on and cleaned on a regular basis. Check that out before you start pulling props, etc.

    232 question

This would be a great moment for me to launch into the "Gotta Have Twins" speech, but I must agree with Hammertime & Bumpye; There is likely an issue with the propulsion. Before you give up, have a Yamaha guy on his game check it all out. I would shoot for deducting the cost of...

    300 Or 350's On a Marlin?

All sounds great! RE: Options I planned on the underwater & cockpit lights. Heck my 232 doesn't have shorepower so I rarely burned lights sitting dockside. I like to read in the cabin at night so I have a light in there and I always worry about draining the batteries. Stainless is a no...

    232 question

Your welcome; Happy to chime in. Your a boater; Your gut will tell you the right decision during and after your sea trial. If maintained, those 250's will last a long time, and the 232 is a whole other boat than the Adventure. Not knocking the 208, great boat! As you know, size matters, just...

    232 question

Oops..another thought: I find I get to the end of my comfort zone in my 232 when the winds exceed 10kts. If the seas are 2 feet or less, it's fine. Anything over that and the 232 will start slapping due to it's wider beam/length ratio. You can adjust tabs and fix it to a point, but if your in...

    232 question

Hey mattdjh: Sometimes performance is subjective.. To answer the question, I have never been aboard a 232 with a single, but many are completely happy with that combo. There is a big difference compared to the twins all throughout the power/torque spectrum but you'll mostly notice it in...

    300 Or 350's On a Marlin?

Thanks Mega: I was hoping you'd chime in. While I enjoy looking at the Express models, they are not a fit for our type of boating. I like the walks much better and the Marlin is the only one left that hovers around 30 ft. I assume you have 300's on your 2017? I'm guessing your close to...

    300 Or 350's On a Marlin?

Scott D; Thanks also for your thoughts & stats. Looks like it'll be the 300's when I order the rig. Almost everyone I asked voted for them. The dependability, proven record, lighter weight not to mention whacking 10-11K off the bill never hurts either. Thanks All; Much appreciated!

    300 Or 350's On a Marlin?

Thanks abielecki: Appreciate your response and your experience. When 100% of those you inquired to say 300's and since so many Marlins have the 300's, that's obviously the way to go. If I may ask, what is your speed in Statute MPH when you net 1.3 MPG? I assume around 29-30?

    300 Or 350's On a Marlin?

GEII: Thanks; It's a big decision, and we figure (translate:hope) we have about 10-15 more years of stamina to keep after it and keep it looking good. Plus, we have places we want to cruise and our current 232 is not the right boat. I'd like a bit better ride, A/C for Fla and a more...

    300 Or 350's On a Marlin?

Thanks again to all that replied: devildog; andybru; Fish; Smoky; Much appreciated! I will owe Journeyman a royalty check before this is done for his time & input. Legend: I talked with the techs at my marina a few days ago and one of them said Yamaha has now resolved the flywheel problem. I...

    300 Or 350's On a Marlin?

Thanks All: My service dept says the 300's are the better choice of the two, along with all of you so far.

    Overpowered 232?

While I'm convinced twin 200's are the perfect power for a Gulfstream, I would hesitate in purchasing a 232 that exceeds the Cap/factory recommendations. There has to be some reason why they don't want 200's on the older models, plus I would wonder if insurance/liability comes into play in the...
