    Rocket launcher

I would but for some reason they only use S/Steel here and I like the polished anodized aluminum ( aluminium for us Aussies) as it matches the hardtop alloy.

I don't have a problem with rod storage as such , even on my bimini top boat I can hold 14 rods, 4 on the gunnel on the original GW holders, 2 at the rear that I added , 4 on the bait tank and 4 on mounted holders on the rails near the kill tanks . The problem is when we hook up a big fish...

    Outriggers on 228G

I have the same set up in my 228 vista top now but they can get in the way when fighting a big fish . I wouldn't go to the front to fight a fish so not a big issue . The soft top tubes are in the way now and even the aerials.

Thanks KY Grady, I understand the GW is G w Performance Welding LLC, they are in NJ. The problem I have with the WMW they are only 4 rod holders , I would like 6 or at the very minimum 5. GW make a 6 and it is 52" wide with 3 mounting tabs, that should fit , I may have to relocate the spreader...

    Outriggers on 228G

As some of you know I bought a new to me 228 G hard top and she doesn't have outriggers . My current bimini top has gunnel mount taco bases with taco telescopic poles, I install them when I bought the boat. What do you guys use , hardtop mounted bases or wishbone. I think I prefer wishbone and...

    Rocket launcher

I just bought a 228 G with factory hardtop and it doesn't have a rocket launcher. Do any of you know who makes the genuine one that GW fit to the Seafarer ? The ones I have seen have 4 rod holders, I would prefer at least 5 . I believe they fix to the hardtop with 3 brackets and e bolts per...

    4 blade prop

If you have the correct pitch ( should be 17 with that motor I would think) the correct height and the engine is healthy she should jump out of the water even if not trimmed in. I have a 250 optimax on my 228 with a 17" 3 blade enertia prop, I never use trim tabs to take off and most of the...

    Hard Top or Bimini

I have a bimini on my 228, no problem having it up underway even with clears on the front. I have them on most of the time as I go a long way offshore so we don't get wet. I don't leave it on on the road unless going to the local boat ramp close by at 40 mph max. I just bought another 228 with a...

Thanks for the input legend, the 250 on the boat i'm buying only has 210 hours but I fish a long way off shore and I like to have new engines on my boats so I will re-power in about 2 years by then the 250 Yam will be 7-8 years old , I don't want to keep it any longer regardless of condition...

I'm looking at buying a newer 228 Grady, love mine but she is getting on and she doesn't have hardtop. I'm negotiating on a 2013 with 250 4 stroke Yamaha, the boat is located in Saint James City, Florida and I'm in Australia. I want to engage a surveyor to inspect it and give me a report . I was...

    Trailer brake kits

Don't bother with drums they will not work for long . The cheapest option in the long run are all stainless steel kits either Kodiak or Deemaxx. You will need 2 hubs as well. https://www.sturdybuiltonline.com/Kodiak-Trailer-Slip-on-Disc-Brake-Kit-ALL-STAINLESS-STEEL-5-Bolt_p_476.html Only $200...

    Trailer running gear upgrade

Bob, If you want trouble free trailering use Stainless steel rotors and calipers Kodiak or Deemax will do the trick . Galvanised hubs are fine as are any quality bearings made in USA or Japan, keep away from anything Chinese. Make sure you have S/S sleeves fitted on the axle stubs for the...

Single or Tandem Axle Trailer for 2007 Tournament 205?

I wouldn't even consider a single axle for that boat. Tandem 3500 lb axles , aluminum I beam bunk trailer, unless you launch at the beach or very swallow ramp, all stainless steel fasteners, brakes on all four wheels, Kodiak or deemax all Stainless steel if budget allows. I use white slides ...
