    NJ re Fishing Line

Circling back to this thread for some more advice. Going to put the mono and braid on a new Penn Battle and Penn Squall 400 LP... Trying to figure out the leader. If I mainly use rigs that have about 24-36in of line, should I bother putting on a leader? I was thinking of having a leader that...

Take a look at those Lowrance videos where they compare their units to other unbranded MFDs....helps you learn about all of the features and how others perform.

    2021 Adventure 208 Build

How does the carpet hold up to stains? Does it just wash away?

    flush mount material

Agree....I was on the fence thinking 1/4 too thin and 1/2 too thick after seeing in person. So I went with the 3/8 starboard but think you may be able to get away with less if acrylic

    GW Delivery Delays?

Curious if these challenges also result in more quality defects, especially if there are continuity concerns with the labor

PartsVu As A Vendor - Are they reliable?

Yes....But I’ve only bought RingFree from them as their prices are better than I’ve seen elsewhere ...

Opinions- New enclosure GradyBlue or OffWhite?

I like the darker colors. Every time I see those cream colors, I wonder how they look up close and how much more obvious stains are on them vs the darker colors.

Depending on where you are located, try TAP Plastics. I had them ship across the country and was only $37 with routing and rounded edges. They finished the front so I just focused on the back and cutouts. They would do everything but I had no clue all of the dimensions at the time. Next time...

    Boat Insurance

Like Skunkboat mentioned above, I have Geico and my premium dropped when I renewed in November. Curious what that means for us when we renew this year and all the talk about premiums going up in NJ. I did price around with a few and Geico was the best priced.

    flush mount material

Not sure the most UV resistant but I assume they are similar and it comes down to preference... What’s the look you want? What color? Here is the starboard ( have acrylic as well along with NewMarine and BoatOutfitters)...

OEM Grady White Beige 1-3/8 x 1/4 Vinyl Trim

Mine has always been in the NE and I have had shrinking. By the helm you notice it as rather than laying flat and going into the various indentations/ steps, it shortcuts them and there is a gap behind it. Curious if that’s age or just was poorly done during fabrication

    2021 228 electronics

Check out a local WM and play around. If your comfortable with Lowrance, their new units have touchscreen (HDS and Elite FS). I liked the Lowrance/ Simrad UI better than Garmin but that’s a personal preference and others prefer Garmin. Also, I wanted two units that fit a certain dimension...

    Electronics for Voyager 248

One more thing, those clasps are just for show. They didn’t work out the way I hoped and had to get my wife to help hold while I drilled. Too many ledges and angles for it to hold securely enough.

    Electronics for Voyager 248

Here are some measurements I had taken in the past: - Inside Opening: 18-1/2 x 7 - Inside Opening + Lip: 19-1/4 x 7-7/8 - My Panel Size: 20-7/16 x 9-1/4 I purchased from TAP Plastics (3/8” thick starboard) and had them do rounded edges and corners (1/2”). Price was better than...

    Cut, buff, wax.

I had the same concerns. Was going to try one of those longer rectangular hand pads from Chemical Guys. Are you using the circular ones?

    Repower 1988 Seafarer 228 G

Here you go....supposedly 280HP for your year...Meanwhile my 2000 is 250. Wonder if it’s a weight thing with motors weighing less in 88 than in 00.

    Repower 1988 Seafarer 228 G

What’s the rating for your year 228? Thought 250 wasn’t the max until the late mid to late 90s

    Gelcoat Repair

I used the spectrum and it worked out well. The repairs were better where I went above the surface with the repair rather than making it even. This way you can wet sand and blend it in nicely.

    Bottom paint color suggestions.

I like the black color. By me the older Gradys seem to have a light blue color while most newer ones seem to have the black. With that being said, does the color matter? When in the water you rarely see it and when you take it out, unless it’s black or you immediately repaint it, it will look...
