Poor design on these tanks. The use of carbon impregnated rubber is terrible. Manufacturer's used a great conductor to cushion the tank. All the damage will usually be around those areas.

I'm doing this right now. I went with the TH-Marine drains with the grate. New hoses and clamps. All new hoses for live well and wash down. The drain on the live well crumbled! Glad I checked! Drains below the water line.

4 Months for a Merc 300. Think I might sit it out. The new ones are pretty nice!

I have a '93. The tank in the rear on mine is a livewell, but I suppose it could have been an option. You can pry up a pie plate in the deck to see if there is a tank. I only have the 1 tank as well.

I just removed my platform and bracket. The platform was mounted with lag bolts and 5200 over the back plate. No 5200 between the platform and the motor bracket.

Got to Genuinedealz and you can get the exact size with better wire and better price. Use a electrical fish tape to get the length needed.

Repair the area and get a full flotation bracket of your choice. Keep the 350 as that's the entire value of your boat. I'm worried about the single bracket on my boat holding a 300. There just isn't enough area to displace all that force. I worry more about torque and less about weight.

I would coat the tank with Coal Tar Epoxy. It will out live the boat. If you put the wood wedges back in you can seal them or replace with a non-porous material. Check you coffin lid core while you are at it.

Looks good! What year is your GS? Where did you get your motor? I'm looking at getting a 300 for my 24 once I derig and sell the old motor. Worried about the bracket being rated for such a bump in weight as well.

I used silicone and every couple feet I hit it with hot glue to hold it in place while the silicone dried. Tied right into the stock lights. Easy if I every need to swap out and they have been perfect for a couple years.

When I did my Mako I made a little mold and layered glass. Bonded it to the hull with an epoxy mix and a final piece over the block. Working down below on a boat that you can't really get down into sucks. I'll do this once and move on. The easier way would be ply glued/glassed to the hull...

Just did both of mine today. Cut back some of the old wire and heat shrinked some new wire with fresh connections. Grady did a terrible job sealing the screws into the hull/pads.
