Be sure to put a piece of duct tape over your fuel mileage gauge BEFORE you start dropping the tabs in a head sea. That way you can't see the result. Out of sight out of mind....

That's always been my thought. As I said above to kentE.I'd rather put the tabs down and run a bit slower outside. I have paper charts up past Islamorada. I'd rather do that run with someone who has local knowledge. We stay on Duck Key, so we usually head South toward Marathon, Sombrero, Looe...

Smoky..When your down there, ask around and try to get a feel as to what they think is gonna happen there. The Gulfstream runs parallel to the Reef on the Atlantic side. When you listen to the VHF weather, they give approximate positions of the Stream off Key West, Looe, Sombrero and Alligator...
