    Oregan Inlet

I have run Fla. inlets which are not the same, I know..Universal rule would be to try to run it on an incoming tide. That way you do not have opposing current and seas as with an outgoing tidal situation. Be sure, also, if you run out as the tide is rising, don't stay out so long that you get...

    Naples to the Keys

Blackbird..I said roughly the same thing above. Have you ever ran the Gulf/Fla. Bay route inside to Ocean reef? gerrys says above it's a neat trip to make. KentE..Fill us in..Scenery good? Any tricky areas?

questions re: switching from ethanol to non-ethanol fuel

I have switched too, but mixed them as I never run my tank low. Once I got all non-ethanol fuel, I no longer mix the two. I had no problems either.

    Considering a 232 gulfstream or a 282 sailfish

Capn. Chris.. If it's the same boat, I talked with them about it myself..It was a great deal, but I passed because it would've changed the way I boat too much. Had nothing to do with the deal..kind of like when you passed on the bigger boat and kept your Tournament. If Ebornstien would want to...

    Considering a 232 gulfstream or a 282 sailfish

Hi Ebornstien.. I mislead, maybe..I have a 232 Gulfstream. I am not a fisherman, although I have talked to several who fished the island area in the late 90's. It is shallow, 20-35 feet generally. Most drift for perch and walleye. I am sorry I cannot remember much more. I say get the boat...

    Considering a 232 gulfstream or a 282 sailfish

Agree with No Problem. I tow out of Indiana back-and-forth to Marathon in The Keys and up to Northern Michigan. Plus, I go to Two Rivers Wisconsin for service.(Great Grady dealer up there, by the way..Twin Cities Marine..THE BEST in my book.) I have never been stopped and measured. It could...

    Considering a 232 gulfstream or a 282 sailfish

The reason a single 250 was harder to dock was that it didn't have twins like the Marlin. Twins are best on the Gulfstream..Mine has 200's..great performer. I would assume the the 282 would be a smoother ride..Megabytes says bigger is always better. With your Duramax your covered..Both are...

    Naples to the Keys

I have not, but can provide an opinion anyway..(Actually a legitimate one..) The advice to head for the Middle Keys is good..here's why. From roughly Islamorada North to Ocean Reef the Gulf technically becomes Florida Bay. it is strewn with islands and the infamous unmarked shallow areas...

    basic question on basic maintenance

Hi Sickday.. I soap down everything and flush the engines when I'm in Fla. on vacation. (The rest of the year, I'm in fresh..) Even if you just rinse, be sure to get to places like underneath the hardtop along the sides. Salt spray gets everywhere.

    Outboard Fresh Water Wash

I spend 2 weeks in the Keys every winter. I use the flush attachment on my 200 Yamahas after every trip. My mechanic inspects the engine when he winterizes it after my trip and says there is no salt to be seen anywhere. I don't know where the fresh water goes while in the engine, but as long...

    Outboard Fresh Water Wash

One more thought.. It might have trouble running at that tilted angle..It's possible the carbs could be affected..Unless someone more knowledgeable on this chimes in, I would see if it works.

    Outboard Fresh Water Wash

My son had the same problem with his Merc 150 10 years ago. I believe he put muffs and a hose on it dockside and ran it trimmed up while flushing with the muffs. Check with s'more experts, but I think as long as the engine is getting a freshwater supply to it, it doesn't matter if it's trimmed...

    The Oil Slick...Kind Of Grady-Related.

Thanks for the update... It's interesting that the outer perimeter seems to be the small spots JUMPINJACK spoke of. I would assume that traveling into the thick of it you would see the enlongated sheen tracks that the TV aerial shots show.
