    Trailer work

There is no need to have your camera set to such large megapixel settings unless you are going to blow up the image to poster size. Most cameras have choices in the menu to reduce the amount of megapixels it stores and most have a setting called "PC", which is intended for our normal use. Saves...

On the water impressions of my 228

Speaking of insufficient flow, a previous engine I had would go into alarm when running on the muffs even though I had good pressure and good size hose. I found that removing the plastic screen on the lower unit before installing the muffs solved the problem, no more alarms.

    330 Bolster Attachment Ideas

Instead of the screws you could use a sailcloth needle and pass a piece of 130# dacron line through the screw hole and around the lower edge of the fiberglass gunnel, tying a cinched loop to hold it from sliding up off the hooks. When you need to remove it just snip the dacron and use new line...

    Prepping for underwater light install

That is a piece of UHMW . I knew I may be having to move that new ducer around to get it right and I didn't want to be putting extra holes through the gel coat and into the core of the transom.

    Loadrite trailer bearings

It's pretty much a given that Loadrite used China bearings in 2014. Your best bet is to remove the bearings from one wheel and use those numbers to order either Timken or SKF bearings and seal. Your choice if you are doing just the hot one or all 4. Just be aware that there are China knockoffs...

    Grady Seafarer as Tow Boat

Drifter, a lot of folks don't know anything about Deception Pass. I lived in that area for over 20 years and am aware but you should describe the tidal flows through there.

    Sarasota bound!!

I live just south of Sarasota in the town of Venice. My son and I just went out yesterday and actually had a bad day fishing but the weather, water and company was great. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches taste better 50 miles out.:) Fishing the bottom is the lifeblood of the recreational...

Replacing a Seastar Helm - Anyone Done it?

Fellas, Seastar does not make hydraulic fluid. Any hydraulic fluid made domestically that meets military spec 5606 works fine and is compatible with all components of the Seastar system. That's the reason Seastar mentions that spec, because they know the bottles with their name on them is not...

    Heading out in a bit

Russ, I bought a boat in Port Aransas a few years ago and had the engines checked out at Rockport marine 361-729-7820. They are a few miles North on Hwy 35. I think they open at 8AM. They seemed like nice folks so if they can't get to you they may be able to give you a lead. Good Luck.

    Installing Totalscan Transducer

Seasicks' advice about pulling the bight of the cable through, instead of the connector, works well in a lot of instances and pulling a second "pull line" through with it is a good thing. Just be advised , if you haven't done this a lot then be aware there are times when things will get hung up...
