    Actual weight of 300 marlin

There is one other thing to bear in mind as I notice how many different numbers are coming up here for total weight on the same boat. Getting your boat and trailer weighed on a scale is important. If you are off in your calculations and you are over the towing weight limit for your truck, and...

    Fuel economy query....282 Sailfish...

Thanks for the feedback all... I was trying to remember back to 2004 when I had the 2003 300 Marlin with 225s. I dont seem to remember actually getting much different fuel burn on a 120 mile offshore day with 4 guys...about 1.2 -1.3. I think I was more concerned that my props were the wrong...

    Fuel economy query....282 Sailfish...

Ok...I finally got to the motors on the lift and saw that the left prop is a Yam...15 1/2 x17 TC SWater series prop...the right is a SS prop but appears to be an aftermarket and just says 17m on it. Am I hearing you guys right that the F225s on most 282s came with 15 1/2 x19 s?? (or 15 1/4 x...

    Fuel economy query....282 Sailfish...

I measured my trip on the NSS12 gps... I refilled the tank after both trips to measure the exact fuel burned. Im not sure I have actually hit WOT....but at right about 5900 I was at 43 MPH ...I need to check that though as I do realize its significance in MPH to revs ...proper prop selection.

    Fuel economy query....282 Sailfish...

The weird thing is that even though my Yammie fuel gauges were reflectiing 1.3-1.6 MPG , I only ran a tad over 100 miles and ended up putting 103 gallons in the tank when i was expecting no more than 80-85. This happened twice in a month... math doesn't add up and I cant figure out the fuel...

Deck drain inserts - where to find replacement part?

I replaced both port side drains recently with stock inserts from Radio Island Marina in Morehead City NC. Jim in Parts stocks them. Not very expensive...putting them in however wasn't impossible but a definite challenge. The starboard side is eroding away as well and I have already figured...

    Fuel economy query....282 Sailfish...

I finally got my 05 282 Sailfish off shore twice in the past month for some bottom fishing... first trip totaled around 120 miles.; second around 100. 4 guys each trip full fuel and 100 lbs of ice. Moderate sea conditions both days. I have 225 Yamahas with Yam factory SS props. The very...

Self install of B175 HW 20 Chirp 1KW Airmar on an 05 282 with sea trial....

Just wanted to share that with extreme fear and trepidation that I ended up doing my own install of the B175 1KW ducer on the 05 282 linked to a NSS12 Simrad. We went 35 miles off Beaufort inlet Wednesday last and fished 135 feet of water. Both the high chirp and 200 settings were...

    225 Yamaha Exhaust tubes..

That's awesome. So did you have your 06' 250 tuners replaced? I have a pal with an 06 250 who is on the fence as whether to have it done or not.

    225 Yamaha Exhaust tubes..

Wow..thanks for sharing. I know so many people with these blocks that throw the dice. Some have done well...others not so much. Even the good tube on my port side would have failed in a couple of hundred hours. I love hearing people talk about the longevity of these motors.. I had 225's on...

Grady curtains made with Ivory Stamoid vs Sunbrella-- Preferences

I literally just took my old curtains to AnJ in NC yesterday to be the template for new ones on a 282. I wrote the order for the Ivory Stamoid which is what many new Grady's are utilizing instead of the Navy Sunbrella. It is not too late to change the order to Sunbrella...( Til Monday) Has...

    Power Assist on a 2007 Sailfish 282?

I don't get the dry enough comment Rob. I owned two different Sea Hunt 260 's which came as an option with the hydraulic power assist to the Sea Star and were mounted on the wall in the step down head; and there are certainly plenty more dry compartments on the 282 to hang it in. The 260 was...
