    2006 Sailfish

I have a 2000 sailfish and was overnighting last summer when I noticed my forward bilge coming on now and then. Discovered the mid port side thru hull just below water line was leaking. It was a royal pain to remove and clean the threads and then I put it back on with new caulk and it is fine...

    Understanding Battery Charging

When my guest charger on my sailfish went out 5-6 years ago, I waited a few years and ended up replacing it with a Minn Kota 3 bank charger. It works great and keeps the batteries in good shape. I no longer remove the batteries from the boat in the winter and just periodically run the charger...

    Hardtop Replacement Project

How did your hardtop get so soaked inside? I've got a 2000 sailfish and am wondering if I need to check mine over.

    Grady White Marlin 2000

As long as the boat and motors check out, you should be good. I have 272 sailfish with ox66 225s and they always start up and run well. Just need to do some reg. Maint like clean 02 sensors, filters, vst, low pressure pumps but you probably already know that.

    Engine Uh Oh......

If they are 2 strokes, I would check the low pressure fuel pumps first. Sometimes they get small cracks in them. If not these, check filters including VST. Had same thing happen on my 225 once.

Pre made boat covers for Marlin

I ordered one from boat covers direct and love it. 800-850 I think. Very good quality.

    Thoughts on Sailfish 255 w/ Yamaha 225's

I have a pair of Yams ox66 2000. Love them and they have never given me any problems. The 4 strokes are nice but heavier so I would check with Grady to make sure whatever engines you decide on will be ok. They do eat lots of oil (I always use the premium stuff) - I burn 2 gallons roughly for...

    Helm Seat Cushion Sailfish

I don't do that. I keep the boat on a lift and remove the hoses attached to it (both sides and try and pour some antifreeze in it ... then shoot it with some lube or something. Current pump is about 3-4 years old. So far so good. I would think you could attach a hose in a jug of antifreeze...

    Helm Seat Cushion Sailfish

Yep. I have the same problem. Not a big fan of this seat and have had problems with the slider. My stand actually snapped off during my last tripnin october and a fell back but caught myself luckily. Not sure what you can do except put more snaps on.

How many lines do you troll?

troll 7-8 if we can. 4 from outriggers. 1 way way way back. 2 off stern. 1 down rigger when we can. We have a sailfish and use 4 in the gunnels, 6 rocket launchers and we added 4 off stern behind the seat and 2 on each side midday way up.

    F225 CORROSION ISSUE

That sucks. Did you repower at some point to 4 strokes? I have a 2000 sailfish with OX66 2 strokes. Is this issue only with F series 4 strokes? Good luck with Yamaha. Maybe they will help off the record.

    Teleflex Leak

Me too! Mine is leaking and I'm going to work on it sometime over the winter. There is a kit you can purchase with the seals and tool included. I have heard that if there are any scratches or nicks on the arm, it might need replacing. Should be a simple process. Good luck and let me know...

    Winterizing Question '99 Sailfish

What I do is run all the lines so no more water comes out. I then add about 6 gal of non toxic pink stuff to freshwater tank open each line until solid pink runs out. Also make sure hot water tank is drained also and don't forget the windshield washer. Once done I turn off water pump and open...

    Bunk Placement for lift...

I would make sure the lift can handle the boats weight. I have a 12,000 lbs lift for my 272.

225 OX66 Service issues with local Grady dealer in Ohio

I agree with the fuel issue. I actually still use non ethanol fuel and top off tanks after every time offshore. Just winterized the boat 2 weeks ago and tanks are full with stbl added. Not sure how old the low pressure pumps are but I'd check hose along with the vst filters. I have also...

    Winterizing OX66

When winterizing these engines, most folks say you just need to spray in cylinders crank over and then spray some more and replace plugs. Since engines are fuel injected, I worry about getting spray into O2 sensor. I then spray down engine with Protectant. Am I missing anything?

    Helm seat slider 272 sailfish

Nope. I would love to fish some more but kids, wife, holidays, and work have me tied down. Going to put my boat on market soon and need to have a new lift installed and find the new boat so lots of work to do before next season. Good luke and catch em up.

What should an OX66 spark plug look like?

Looked at mine while winterizing and they were clean, dry and a few had a little carbon but very very little. I use ring free every fill up and only use non ethanol fuel. Cleaning the 02 sensor is a must every year as is replacing spark plugs. I usually keep a 2 sets on the boat just in case...
