1993-1994 the max HP rating was 230, so max rigged out would of been a 225, somewhere down the line the rating went to 250 HP which is the current rating. On my 228 the max was 250 in 2004, now they are 300.

I have an old school way of thinking. If the boat is rated for a specific HP, then it should be rigged with a motor that meets that rating. You don't have to use all of that power, but it's there when you need it. Many manufacturers rigged their boats with minimal HP as a price point to get the...

Been cool to of had a 228 to compare also, especially the side by side pic. 208, 226, 228. Could see the difference a closed transom and bracket makes.

Well magicalbill, that didn't take long. I floated the idea to our friends, and we made reservations last night for Marathon Key for next May. Taking the Grady on another road trip. The Keys is one of my bucket list trips with my boat.
