    Insulation

the box is fine sides and bottom, except that small bit I had to take out to change out the battery charger. only a boat designer would put in the battery charger and then put spray foam blocking it in. I think i will use foam board and paint with latex as they say can be done.

    Insulation

Attached is image of the cover to my live well. The live well is most often used as a fish box and is insulated fairly well on sides and bottom. The cover is about 1 in deep and as you can see uninsulated. Hoping for ideas how to insulate this area and hopefully keep ice better in the summer.

    Suzuki DF200AP maintenance tips

Gotta ask, manual states you can use a NMMA FC-W rated oil, does not say API/SN. Reading shows FC-W starts at API rate then adds additional additives for marine environment. I mean if you are still under warranty ??? just curious

    Suzuki DF200AP maintenance tips

Wow, excellent! I was told I must use Suzuki brand products and document all work or void the warranty. Was I hoodwinked? Parts Vu down here in Fla is the best place to get the Suzuki stuff.

    Not sure what happened

Never cease to amaze myself with my own stupidity. Since I cannot seem to throw away anything that might look to be useful at some future date I saved the buss bar from the old ac/dc breaker panel in the cabin and used some of it for the ground buss in the radio box. 10ga neg was attached to...

    Not sure what happened

Some follow up. First radio, my bad. Radio was on memory scan and reverts to the last channel that signal was received from. Before the upgrade I was listening to the local WX channel. So when I powered up after upgrade keying mic sent it to WX. A call on channel 72 from the handheld set...

    Not sure what happened

Recently upgraded my radio box (see what have you done lately) and cannot figure out what happened. Images show before and after change, problems are now have dim spreader lights fore and aft, dim helm light. Radio seems to work fine, with the exception that when I key the mic it goes to the...

What have you done to your Grady lately?

Last trip door to radio box kept flopping down in some rough water. Started to refurbish and replace hinges but went to a flush mount look. Not perfect but at least cleaner. Small glove box angles down so stuff would possibly slide out but most likely will be used to store the radio mike.

    tilt trim in seastar helm

West Marine brand. This has been an interesting discussion. It once again reinforces my skepticism of product labels and manufactures requirements pertaining to warranties and recommended uses. Why for instance does Suzuki mandate I must use only Suzuki products during routine maintenance or...

    tilt trim in seastar helm

back of bottle states ok for all hydraulic applications. petroleum based, has the anticorrosion, anti foam, lubrication additives. viscosity may be a little less than steering fluid. it does not have the mil spec 5606, which prob does not matter. it was only a top off but probably a good...

    tilt trim in seastar helm

Friend put West Marine tilt trim fluid in helm, I cannot find the specs on the fluid. Bottle says good for all hydraulic systems. Seems to be working fine. Is it a real problem?

    Starboard question

Ditto on drill holes front and back and plywood blade. A good circular saw/blade a piece of aluminum angle stock and clamps will give a good straight cut. I move the work station out on the grass most of the time and voila the chips are gone next mowing.

    Autopilot Addtion

Best thing I did on my boat. So spoiled now don't like fishing on boats without one. I got Raymarine ev150 with raymarine 7" (all I had room for) mfd. Did the install myself, fairly straight forward except the bleeding of hydraulics. Like it much better than the more popular garmin system...

    3 batteries to 2

Seems like 2 questions here. First adopting new battery technology. Do not have a dog in that fight so no comment, except good luck hope it works for you. Second going without a dedicated house bank, something I would never, ever do.
