Fish finder/ GPS turns off when starting engine

So tested the end of the A60 plug when starting the engine. Went from 12.43 to 8.95.... Thoughts? I need to test at the switch panel as well but not sure what is typical

    226 owners help

No problem. Just be aware that too much trim tab impacts the steering when turning. When at speed, I always take a quick glimpse over my shoulder to see if I changed the shape of the water too much right behind my boat. I’ve noticed if it still looks like a “V” it’s ok but if there are 3...

How Secure a Danforth Style Anchor in the Anchor Lockerr

I have to test mine from inside the cabin as there didn’t seem to be much play in it when testing from the top. Take pics of what you end up doing and whether it works.

    NJ fishing reports

Anybody try fishing today? Went out in the Barnegat and got skunked. Hardly any bites and inlet channel was like rapids even though the water was calm...started drifting at the beginning of one sod bank and shot me out about 300 yards down the other side in no time. Did walk by the Barnegat...

Fish finder/ GPS turns off when starting engine

Thanks for the feedback. Was basically out all day but did test the voltage... The A60 connects to the fuse panel up front. The fuse panel has 12.6v and the end at the A60 unit is 12.6 as well. That’s good news as the wire is spliced and the end at the fuse has the wire somewhat exposed and...

    226 owners help

If I remember correctly, I believe you boat in the Barnegat Bay like me. I know the 228 and 226 are different but there must be some similarities... My 228 is basically dry for the most part except when I misjudge the placement of the trim tabs and motor. My sweet spot on the motor is...

How Secure a Danforth Style Anchor in the Anchor Lockerr

So I don’t believe my anchor can open the access point in the cuddy. How it sits in the locker, it can only pivot about three inches before it hits against the inside of the top part of the locker. In the one photo, you will see marks of when it hits against the top. I need to put a cushion...

Helm Seat Height...and other seat discussions

How is this working out for you? I normally stand as when I sit my line of sight is directly even with the metal at the top of the window. Incredibly annoying... Debating on doing something like this or just removing the cushion I have that is pretty thick.

How Secure a Danforth Style Anchor in the Anchor Lockerr

I’ll take pics this evening of my 2000 228 to see if our setup is similar. Curious if the direction matters with regards to which side faces forward. Does the access in the cuddy have a clip or locking mechanism or is it unsecured?

How Secure a Danforth Style Anchor in the Anchor Lockerr

Are you sure it’s the anchor and not the chain? I am looking into the same, but I don’t see much play in the anchor and the noise I am hearing sounds more like the clanging noise of metal on metal rather than a banging noise. Is your anchor locked in? What year is your 228?

Fish finder/ GPS turns off when starting engine

I do agree with that but also was the week I replaced the front bilge so not sure if me connecting lose wires on switch panel did something. I tried wiggling all connections at the battery while it was on and nothing. I even had all electronics on including VHF, Deprh finder, the problem unit...

Fish finder/ GPS turns off when starting engine

Didn’t find anything yet. Batteries are good. Wire runs somewhere in the dash rather than directly to the back by the batteries. Reviewed the installation manual and know what to look for now... When replacing the front bilge, I saw a couple of ground wires that were disconnected on the two...

    NJ fishing reports

I definitely wouldn’t put myself in that group but saw one a few months ago and it caught my eye. I liked it a lot. Maybe in the future it will be what I upgrade to.

    NJ fishing reports

Yep, if I do a weekend, I am back at my dock by 9am no matter the bite. I find it surprising how many boats are making their way into the inlet at 8am I’ll make my way out next year probably as I need to upgrade my electronics. 75 miles out is insane...How does the 265 handle it?

    NJ fishing reports

My wife tells me the same thing but for me it’s more about the wind conditions and boat traffic. I get my boat ready at 5am, get Dunkin’ Donuts and then wake my daughter and wife up at 545 To go fishing. I like to find a spot in the Bay before others. If I could, I would start earlier but...

    Stabilizer with every fill up

Ring Free and Sta-Bil Marine. I was told to put both in before filling but not sure if that is correct or not. I feel like determining how much to put in is less of a science as you don’t know how much you are going to fill up exactly. Ballpark, yes which I guess is better than not doing...

    OX66 Oil drip/ leak

So far, looks like the oil leak might have been solved using the zip ties. I saw a few diluted drops on the bracket after a week, but I think that was due to dried oil on the bottom of the cowel getting wet and dripping out. I’ll attach some more pics as I am curious what the oil hose going...

    228 Bilge Pump

Besides rod holders and the aft cup holders, any other areas where water drains to the bilge? I believe my rod holders drain to the deck so not sure that affects my 2000 228 I have a small amount of water in the bilge the last time I checked, but every once in a while I get enough that I can...

Grady White - Help with Model Choices

My 2000 228 only has the backrest on the port side also. Another thing to keep an eye out for is if any 228s have a handle for those two seats. Mine has 1 on the port side by the bolster but the starboard doesn’t. Never thought it’s a big deal but my 6 year old daughter enjoys sitting there...

Hoping it’s solved but if not. Where exactly are you referring to? Any idea why that solved it?
