    2000/2017 228 Seafarer (updated)

Nice boat! Maybe I missed it, but it always helps to know where you are located. You can edit it into your profile, and it will be there for future posts as well. edit: re-reading I see Georgia coast. Georgia seems to fly under the radar, when it comes to boating and fishing forums. Small...

    208 Bilge Pump

If you're going to do that, you might as well put a few drops of Dawn in first, and keep it sparkling clean.

    208 Bilge Pump

If you take a wave over the bow, you should be more concerned with scuppers than the bilge pump. How will that wave percolate to to the bilge, faster than a 1100GPH will get rid of it? Do you have an open transom, or a bracket? If open, you put the wave gate down, and accelerate.

Live well ball valve on a 228

The fork on the lower end is called a clevis yoke, or a rod clevis, if you have to replace one. When I bought my 2000 Seafarer last year, it was completely rusted away, so a steel one made it into the production by mistake, or GW may have used steel for a while. A nice person at TH sent me a...

    Wheels locked on trailer

On many trailers, if you back the trailer into a parking space and unhook it, you are essentially putting on the parking brake. Always pull forward a foot or so, to release pressure on the master cylinder, and on the brake pads. Even better, put a chock in front of the wheel before pulling forward.

    Islander bow thruster

I don't think that I would want my outboards doing all that work to hold position, either, but bottom fishermen seem to love the trolling motors' anchor feature, as opposed to repeatedly hauling 200 feet of rode and chain, multiple times a day. Plus, you stop on your spot, instead of trying to...

    Islander bow thruster

I don't knock anyone for wanting, or using, a thruster, but with the giant leaps in saltwater trolling motors, like Rhodan, in the last few years, I wonder if they are a viable option. Deploy it coming to a slip, and use as a thruster, and get the benefit of a trolling motor, plus Spot Lock, or...

    Islander bow thruster

Nice job, Hookup. I was a little surprised that the tunnel was not pre-mounted to the unit, even if you had to dis-assemble to do the glass work. Any pics or details about mounting the unit to the installed tunnel?

    Cockpit heat ideas 208 Adventure

I did not mean to imply that a detector was not a good idea, quite the opposite. If a combo is available, even better.

    Cockpit heat ideas 208 Adventure

A properly burning propane heat source produces CO2, not CO, so not sure what a carbon monoxide detector would tell you. If the heater is not getting enough oxygen to burn the propane completely, it will produce carbon monoxide. Proper ventilation is your best approach.

On a center console, I assume that you are day tripping, so why not just use a quality thermos, and make it at home?
