    modern grady rod holder strength

Be careful pulling from cleats. Boats have been sunk by trying to free stuck anchors, pulling from the stern cleats. If the rope is nylon, and remains stuck, the rubber band effect when you back off the throttle can pull the stern under. The more line out, the more stretch in the line. You may...

    Grady Rod Holder Straps

Is that hard plastic, like from the cabin, or rubber? I don’t think I have that on my boat.

    Cabin Pictures Please

It was an incomplete thought at the time, but what I was thinking was to enclose the area over the green and yellow area with a thin piece of flat starboard, or plexi. The bulkhead would be replaced as it was, with four or five holes in a vertical line on the port side, to allow rod handles to...

    Hardtop on a Tournament?

JCB3, I'm with you on several points: 72YO, and appreciate comfort and convenience. Love the hardtop on my 228, hate the lack of room between the seats at the helm. Same hull as a 22 Tournament, but the walkaround steals a lot of your room to maneuver. I agree that a better top adds value, and...

    Cabin Pictures Please

Norcoastal, if you have not already replaced your bulkhead, it looks like you have some room on the port side to be creative and add some longer rod storage, by creating a pocket next to the port seat, extending into the cabin.

    Hardtop on a Tournament?

My oversized Bimini was just something I picked up on craigslist. I already had an arch installed, which gave it a lot of support. I never put it down, except for hurricanes. One thing to Consider, if you have enclosures, or any curtains, you have to stick to the original top. I had none.

    Off shore safety

I agreed that you would have a hard time catching up with a boat that was drifting with the wind, current, swell, but you have a 50-50 chance that the boat will be vectoring at some angle into the wind, current, swell when the engine cuts off. We all know that your chances of staying with the...

    Grady 192 live well/wash down

OP reads like he already has a plumbed live well under the helm seat. Tee off the existing through hull, or change pumps, to get a second feed for a wash down pump. Extra points if he can come up with a way to have the wash down pump momentarily switch off the livewell pump, while being used.

2006 282 Sailfish Fresh Water Fill

Turn on the freshwater system, the pump should pressurize and turn off quickly. If it continues to run, you have a leak, or a faucet open, on the pressurized side, after the pump. If it turns off quickly, just keep filling. If it doesn't over flow, the leak is between the tank and the fill.
