How do you deal with smokers?

Simple. Go find a pair of Johnson Ocean Runners from the 1990s and repower your boat with those motors. The 2 stroke smoke aroma will out smell the cigerrette smoke. Problem solved. Solution 2, is to simply kill them where they stand with a quick gaff to the heart. Solution 3, tell your...

    Fish on

Hey Doc, I am the delivery boy, getting my crew on the fish. Ben is the gaffer. I agree it's our weakness. Lol.

    Fish on

So, I live in Western North Carolina. It's 12-13 hours to the Outer Banks from my place. To catch dolphin you're looking to go 35-70 miles off in many places in NC. I normally fish out of Port Canaveral, Florida. I can wet a line in about 18 miles off. Out of Stuart, Florida we wetted the...

    228 performance

The OSF 4 will give you better cruise economy, better hole shot, it will hold better in tighter turns if you do water sports and it will give great following seas performance. It will also help with reverse too. You will lose about 1 mph on the top end. I had one on my boat until the motor...

    Fish on

Hauled the 228 to my native state and went fishing out of Port St. Lucie, Florida. We fished for a few days and caught 5 good size dolphin and a schoolie. We lost two huge at the boat. We had three more break off during the fight. I love the taste of fresh caught dolphin and fishing for...

    228 performance

Remember, the weight difference of losing pounds between the 3.3 and 4.2 motors is enough to warrant only being on the second hole for the 4.2 . When I moved the motor up one hole the skeg is now almost completely out of the water. I also liked the 4 blade prop more than the 3 blade.

    228 performance

I had the 3.3 liter F250 and the boat topped out at 42 with a powertec 4 blade prop. I bet the motor is too low. I now have the 4.2 on it and KY noticed my motor was mounted on the top hole and I had the motor moved to the second hole. It runs much better. We often focus on top speed...

    Sealant for deck plates

I have a question. Are you asking about sealing the deck floor piece covering the entire fuel tank or are you talking about the inspection ports ? If you're talking about the panel covering the entire fuel tank , almond GE silicone II like Fishtales said. If you were talking about the...

    Good bumpers?

I buy what I consider a medium size. They are maybe 18-24 inches long and maybe 6 inches in diameter I am guessing. They make bigger ones. It the bigger the fender the more they can compress and such. I say if you keep your boat in the water or boat where it's busy and a lot of wake traffic...

    Re-powered my GW226 with a Honda BF250

Hey Doc, I am heading to the Sunshine State today with my son. My fishing buddy is renting a house down in Port St.lucie . We got 4 days of trolling on the calendar at the end of this week. Fishing reports suggest yellowfin, black fin and mahi are all being caught off of Martin and St.Lucie...

    Good bumpers?

I have said it before ...bumpers are for pontoon boaters and lake people. I have also said I use bumpers to ward off other boaters. If you tie a few bumpers to your stern and midship cleats and let them fly around , other boats will avoid you thinking you are novice and or first day on the...

    Re-powered my GW226 with a Honda BF250

Here is something I do not understand. If Honda's are just maranized Odyssey/pilot engines , then why are they so sensitive to ethanol? Their car motors don't seem this way at all? I know, I know maybe the marine fuel injection system with VST tanks maybe the key difference.

    Re-powered my GW226 with a Honda BF250

The SeaV2 hull is a tab friendly design. The variable dead rise design works well if you are into a head sea and drop the tabs down. This way the sharp bow entry is being put to use as it slices through the head sea waves. Learn to use those tabs, they are installed for the purpose of utilizing...

    Re-powered my GW226 with a Honda BF250

Doc, my 228 seems to track well at low speeds. I have a hard top, don't know if that means anything. You are a smart fellow, do you have some extra weight or something in the bow? Typically, if you got a lot weight up front you can get the bow steer or pinning issue. From your post it seems...

    Re-powered my GW226 with a Honda BF250

Sweet! Have you taken it off any sweet jumps!? Ok, that's a Napoleon Dynamite reference, lol. It's looks cool. Is the weight difference noticable? The Honda is on the husky side of weight. I know you will enjoy it and you do like quiet happy with the new motor!

    Probably Dumb question

Two ideas. Idea one is to top her off with freshwater before you depart on each trip. Idea two, you will know when it's empty when you run out of water. When I am boating in saltwater I just top it off at the end of the day when I am cleaning the boat. It has served me well.

    Grady or Cobia

I thought he got the Bayliner motor boat special. When you get down to it, be it a Bayliner or a Cobia or a Grady in the end everyone is happy right as long as the ending is happy too. They all bring some level of satisfaction.

    Grady or Cobia

So, what you're saying ...is the more I pay for a woman, the better customer service I will receive? Lol. I could never afford that kind of woman. ;-) Somebody should have told the Patriots owner that bit of wisdom. Lol. He owns a Grady Express 330.

    Grady or Cobia

Dude! Surely, you jest by posting such a question here then after you have now owned 4 Grady's! You come here and blaspheme the Grady White name with Cobia. In all my interwebs years have I never been so humiliated by answering your rhetorical whimsy. I am both stunned and ashamed. I...
