Bilge smell in Marlin mid/aft berth

A few things come to mind on this type of issue and I have had the in my 25 as well . First, I doubt there is a seal or supposed to be sealed. There should be some type of ventliation flowing through the nooks and crannies to keep mold/mildew down. Second, you might have some mold/mildew and...

    Macerator/Waste holding tank

I did the retrofit macerator replacing the in-tank Groco a few years ago. Starting having issues last year where it would not pump out when way out to sea, but when I got home and on the trailer, it would pump out when I tested it. Assumed air leak, so resealed fittings and put new hoses with...

    Switching from Bennett to Lenco

My buddy has a 24' Sea Hunt and his Lenco's are constantly failing. He just finished replacing the control module and one of the rams, and now the other ram is not responding consistently, so basically, he will be replacing all the components. Just sayin....

Vinyl with spots on helm arms

Isn't Sodium Hypochlorite bleach? I was just checking the ingredients on the Starbrite and it has this chemical, which is the same as my bottle of bleach....? However, I found this information on the makeup of the bleach being used: BUFFERED-BLEACH TECHNOLOGY is better suited for...

    GREAT GRADY FAQ

The switch is just for the reading of the fuel senders from each tank. There is a fuel valve that you change manually to switch between tanks. In my case, it is located in the transom area on the Port side. I have to remove a storage bin from the transom to access it. Not sure where it would be...

    Bow Pulpit Upgrade

Yes, agree, it is a science....I really like the Delta. Looks good, and design wise, seems it is perfect. I just could not figure out what I was doing wrong. I recall in the inlet area a few years back in 30' of water anchoring down for cobia fishing. I could not get the anchor to stick...

    Bow Pulpit Upgrade

Hi Dennis, fyi...I just found this test by the Salt Strong team and found it to align with the problems what I was having with the Delta. Maybe the softer sand is the culprit...dunno, but maybe this is what I was experiencing at times. Overall, they gave the Delta style a good rating and was...

Rinsing Salt Water Out on land -

Halfhitch, that is a really cool idea if ever need it for whatever reason. Perhaps the bilge pump dies, is a good idea. I didn't think about that. I have the original Rule 1500gph pump and I installed a secondary Rule 2000 gph pump in case the 1500 gets overwhelmed. I have seen videos of boats...

    Horn replacement

I was wondering about that. Hard to tell since I am always on the boat and not somewhere away from it on the water. I still wish I had the dual trumpet air horn that sounds like a freighter! Even though I really never have to use the horn in my area so far. But, the boat traffic is increasing...

Mine connects inside the cabin. Hole is not large enough to pull the heat shrieked crimps through. Can you get to the underside to check?

Custom rocket launchers for the hardtop?

I was afraid to confess I am looking for a serious jigging rod/reel combo and even also an electric rod/reel combo for deep dropping....Then there are more rods if I take 3 or 4 folks with me. Is there an end? The biggest challenge to date is where to store all of them. So far, I have a pretty...

Custom rocket launchers for the hardtop?

When we plan to go offshore for a 50 mile run, usually with 2 people..we expect to fish offshore style. Usually 8 or 9 lines dragging lures. Now, if we catch or run into a school of Mahi and they come to the boat, we have to use our spinning rods to pitch out some squid pieces on a hook with no...

Cost for thorough cleaning and ceramic coating interior/exterior 1988 22' Seafarer Cuddy Cabin

Thanks Bill! Hoping anyone can use this info to their advantage! The process is very rewarding and the compliments I get all the time when trailering is worth it! I even have folks pull up next to me at a stoplight and compliment and start to ask questions before the green light...and all the...

    plastic wood trim looks lousy

After trying the paint method, after first season with lots of chips, I think the Interlux 2 part paint I used was too hard and need to use a 1 part urethane that might be able to handle more impact for this type application. However, still with the starboard in place and the crazy warping at...

One more thought....I also use the Shurhold Pad Cleaner powder to clean the pads. It removes all the residue. Mix one cup in a 5 gal. bucket with 1 gal. water. Soak pad for 30 min. Take out and use pressure from water hose to rinse out. Then put on polisher and spin dry. Ready to go again. I am...

    Stripes

To remove any decal glue, I always use mineral spirits with plastic scraper and cotton towels. Work well. Just keep soaking the glue generously and scrape, reapply MS and scrape and wipe with towel. Follow with acetone for final finish.

    Grady 235: windlass or not?

Have you tried to retrieve it without one? I did when I got my 252G with pulpit. I found it to be near impossible to try to find an easy way to stand up on the pulpit or in the walkway and try and retrieve it while bouncing around in 2-3' seas. Very quickly, I researched and found out how to...

BF22Grady, I have been using many different products and finally determined those that worked best for the boat are from Majestic Solutions which is actually local here in Raleigh, NC, but I still do the mail order most of the time. Step 1: For heavy cut: Vibracut 1000. What I like about this...
