I will second Brian's statement. With my 2 Stroke 150, it ran in the low 40s and with my 4 stroke 150, again , low 40s. Something is either off with the prop and or motor height.

I don't think they used Greenwood XL in 1998. I thought it was not used until 2000 or 2001? I could be wrong.

Gear Ratio of the 4.2 is 1.75:1 I am curious more about cruising RPM and speed. Raising the motor would seem to improve top end. Will the reduction of drag improve mid range speed and fuel economy.
