    GW Freedom 205

My comments on the porta potty didnt talk about access but rather whether the OP wanted to have to remove the potty and carry it off the boat to dump it. There are porta potties with a pump out option which is better than nothing but I would prefer a better head with a remote holding tank and a...

    Seafare swim platform recommendations

The product looks like an exact match to mine on my 208. I am not a big guy and the ladder works well for me and my 'crew'. One good feature is that it is fairly easy to unfold the ladder when you are in the water for example if you fall overboard. Some systems are more difficult to do that. On...

    Seafare swim platform recommendations

There are lots of options but I prefer a three step version over a 2 step. It is easier to get a leg up. You will have to determine if the following will fit but it looks like the Grady OEM ladder and platform...

Finally Installed The Bow Pulpit With A Few Mods.

Can you describe the mounting method ( backing plate, washers, etc and how you gained access to the mountings? I assume the mounting is just the 4 bolts. Are the cleats mounted only to the new pulpit and are that mounted with screws or bolts with backings? It looks very nice and I like the long...

    GW Freedom 205

If most of my boating were to take my spouse and grandkids out on day trips, I would lean towards a hull with a toilet that has a holding tank and a pump out option. The 205 has a porta-potty type of MSD. As to the comment about the 205 being a big boat, it is a bit heavier than many other...

    Bow Pulpit Fiberglass Cracks...

They are making houses using very large 3D printers:) Regarding the strength of the pulpit, an somewhat easy way to see if the damage is terminal is to unscrew the pulpit railing stanchions ang put pressure on the pulpit. If the pulpit moves, it has cracked all the way through.

    Bow Pulpit Fiberglass Cracks...

I agree about replacing if it will not be a DIY fix.

    Bow Pulpit Fiberglass Cracks...

I don't think there is a rotten core issue. I think that either the boat hit something hard or that the anchor got stuck and too much force was put on the pulpit causing it to bend and crack' The cracks mid section worry me but not as much as what looks like a crack below that hole. I would be...

How do you take this apart??

Just use any lubricant and work the piston a bit. It may free up for a while but eventually it will need replacement. I believe it is this unit; https://www.scandvik.com/index.cfm?method=products_detail&productID=25 You can buy the nozzle alone or the kit wit base, cap and hose. There are...

House Battery not enough for all the electronics today ?

You didn't say whether you are having issues, just that you are concerned about the draw on your battery. What is your battery setup? How many, how wired and what type/size. If you are running house loads off of a starting battery and running that battery down, that can shorten the life of your...

    Flushing outboard engine

The fresh water also flushes the exhaust housing, water pump and lower unit. When up, some water will stay in the lower unit but it will be fresh water. If you flush and then raise the motor, you will scoop some sea water. In addition, the static pressure of the sea water on the lower unit can...

    Scupper screen to prevent clogs?

Same here. Screens will block the water flow as they clog. The open tube scuppers will pass a decent amount of small debris and leaves.

Do i need to repair this? Bottom paint mistake

That occurred to me earlier but I would not have expected the repair to use chopped strand mat. If the surface is smooth I suggest that the OP just paints it using a primer coat and bottom paint. I wouldn't do the barrier coat at this point. See how the paint wears and if any other weird spots...

    GW Freedom 205

I am not familiar with those waters. Do you see many if any pontoon boats. That may be a better fit for your needs ( yeah it's not a Grady:))

    SEAT PEDESTALS

There are a few specs that you need to know. With those you can start searching the web for options: First is pedestal diameter at the bushing. It is probably 2 7/8 inches but check. Second is shape and size of base. Some bases are round, some have a flat side . Bolt hole spacing is a factor...

Do i need to repair this? Bottom paint mistake

Interesting observation although I didn't see that spot as a possible blister. I still don't know what it is for sure but if it were a blister and was 'raised' to start with, I would expect the sanding to expose fibers and I don't see any. All the fibers seem to be fully covered with resin.

    Scupper screen to prevent clogs?

All that does is cause the crap to pile up on the screen. At least without screens some stuff like leaves can pass through the scuppers. When you hose off the deck, every so often put the nozzle up against the drain and flush the scupper. This is true for all the drains, deck, lockers and cabin...
