    First Grady

Congrats on your new Grady! Like everyone else said do not skimp on the radio or antenna. Both Icom and Standard make aircraft and ham radio equipment so they know their stuff. I have owned both before. VHF is line of site so the higher you can get your antenna the further you can hear and be...

    New Man On The Block

Dr. Bob, It seems being a dentist you are likely an analytical guy, yes? If the slip drives the purchase and you can not have more than 23 feet length, then there is no way a Gulfy works or my boat the 228. Both these boats are bracketed and from the pulpit to the back of my motor is 26 feet...

    Water tank for winterizing F250

Thanks! We pretty much do the same to the boat it self as you do. We removed all the removables and stored the cushions inside in our laundry room. I ran rv antifreeze in the water tank and water lines. Engine wise we topped off the gas tank and added stabil because I do not readily have...

    Water tank for winterizing F250

Question...what do you all do when winterizing? I have lived in the mountains now since 06 and other than draining the water as best as we can, i have never winterized the motors of my boats with fogging oil. I have never had a problem in 6 years either. Am I missing something? We tend to...

    keeping mold away!

Vinegar works great especially on mildew. I have one tiny question though. You live in Daytona Beach and until 6 years ago I lived in Orange City. I am curious as to why are you putting your boat away for the winter? Am I missing something here. We would boat 12 months out of the year, now I...

Best way to sell my Grady

Fishtales....I am sort of like that guy too! With a shrinking budget, going fishing is becoming a bit more scarce. So boating becomes more family oriented activity. Then again I bought a Grady beause we like the water. We enjoy water sports, we enjpy fishing and snorkeling. We enjoy a boat that...

    Anyone running a 4 Blade Prop for 2006 228 F250

I did not know about that cool new hub system when I bought the prop. I needed a sparw prop for the Bahamas trip so I bought the 4 blade. The trip drove my decision to buy a prop. I have no regrets going to a 4 blade at all. On our trip Coconut spun a hub and he uses the Merc prop and quick...

    Anyone running a 4 Blade Prop for 2006 228 F250

Hey I bought a Power Tech 4 blade SS prop back in May. I have a F250 and had it propped with a yammy ssII prop. I dropped down in pitch from a 17 to 16. The boat gets out of the whole a lot quicker and it holds turns really well when pulling a tube. We have noticed a slight improvement with...

    issac

Doc, I was born and raised in Fla and went through a couple named storms with Charlie, Fancis and Jean being my last as a resident. I did experience Debbie in the Bahamas in June. I am on one hand fascinated with hurricanes and on the other not wanting folks to be harmed by them. I should a...

    Grady White Journey 258

I am not a 258 owner but I have looked at them. I have a 228 with a hard top and I like to wet a line inshore and on lakes every now then. Here is the rub. The hard top, cabin and such has a lot of windage. If you are a real serious inshore guy you may become frustrated with fishing off the...

what h.p.2 repower seafarer outboard on bracket

I would look at the weight difference between the F300 and F250 and then decide on wjich motor to go with. Part of the HP rating for the boat is based on weight of the motor itself. Also having repropped recently going from a3 blade to a 4 blade I would highly suggest doing the same. The boat...

    what truck to buy?

If you want a Toyota, then get one. These kinds of.threads are like asking on THT which boat should I buy...a Grady, Pursuit or Contender. :D. If I ever get a new truck it will either be another Tundra or Ford F150. I tow as much as anybody here if not more from the NC muntains to Florida...

    water in fuel sensor

Thanks.guys. i will look into the float. The engine filter was replaced in April. I replaced the big 10 micron one twice now. I suspect it is the float as well after reading yalls input. I will do some digging and report back.

    water in fuel sensor

Brian on the F250 it is located in/on the engine mounted filter with the clear polycarbonate vessel. It seems to me if we had a water issue with water at the botton of the gas tank then would it not be evident in both the big and small filters?

    water in fuel sensor

Over the past two months under high rpms as in above 5400 my F250 guages are indicating water in the fuel. I have checked both filters and replaced the 10 micron one twice. I have yet to actually find any water in the fuel when I pour it in a jar (I let it sit a while too). When I slow down to...

    228G Seafarer

Depending on load in my boat the.scuppers sit low too. Sometimes if we have a lot people on the boat on the lake and we are stationary and those people are aft water will be standing on the deck. Otherwise this never happens to us either.

Trip Report...my first crossing to the Abacos

Hey Yall: Wow what a crazy two weeks this has been for us. Before I start the report I must say a big thank you to Coconut here for being a great Commodore and teacher. Rob is a great guy, very patient and was very helpful with the trip planning answering a million plus questions. This forum is...
