    Voyager 248 - Thru-Hull Transducer

I wish to lend another observation here. I have a shoot thru the hull airmar and it works very well. It holds the bottom to 1300 feet and in choppy water or in seas 3 to 4s it holds the bottom well.

Survey- what color are your interior cockpit lights

Thanks a bunch Guys!!! The Admiral likes blue and thus blue is likely what we install. I am considering perhaps running blue from the cockpit lights and then maybe tapping the aux switch and adding just a short set of gunwale reds. I dont know, but blue is in the lead.

    Transducers? shoot thru/transom/thru-hull?

Zimm, I would suggest a good puck transducer then. They work pretty good, easy to install and are the most affordable of the group.

LED cabin lighting and under water stern lights

Giorgos: Thanks for the tip. I am likely going to do it your way and then run the wire above the waterline and then drill into the boat and put a clam shell to finish it off.

Survey- what color are your interior cockpit lights

Thanks Fishtales. I planned on doing the same thing by connecting the leds to the already wired cockpit lights. Good to hear the blue is fine.

    Transducers? shoot thru/transom/thru-hull?

Zimm, I have a 228 and I bought it new in 2009 and the Grady dealer in GA told me Grady did not recommend drilling a hole to mount an in hull transducer in the models below 22 feet. So we went with AirMar 1KW thru-hull transducer. It works pretty well. I had the stern puck kind on my previous...

Survey- what color are your interior cockpit lights

Hi Yall: I am going to add some lighting to my boat's interior. I do some night fishing every now and then as well as hanging out at the dock-slip when take the boat on trips to the Keys, lakes and rivers for several days. I am wondering for those of you who have upgraded your standard Grady...

    Question on the SeaV2 Hull

I think the tricky following sea has a lot to do with the dead rise at the stern and how the boat is weighted perhaps? Grady had a 265 Express and the hull shape gave it some quirky following sea handling characteristics. Many here with 265s swear by their boats and I have never been on one...

    Sailfish newbie electrical questions

The switches have that boot on them, right? I had voltage at the switch on the hot side but none coming out on the switch side. Most things Grady uses on their boats is top notch, but who ever makes these switches could do something to improve their duty life. They can be cantankerous to be...

    Bought a '01 226!

Great Buy! You and your boy will make many memories on her. I often here the phrase a boat is a hole in the water in which you pour money into, yet I have never felt that way. So many life lessons can be taught on the water. The days fishing, exploring and seeing wildlife are days of...

    Sailfish newbie electrical questions

There are no circuit breakers in the switches. I am not familiar with the spreader lights on your boat. On mine they are combined with the cockpit dome light. One switch for the dome and one for the spreader. I am assuming this is the same and if so I would point to the switch. I had to replace...

    Question on the SeaV2 Hull

The longer the wetted surface the faster a boat typically is, this especially true of kayaks. With that said Grady' are typically heavier foot per foot than other boats in the same hull size. Mass has a lot to do with how a boat rides through garbage water. The SV2 hull has a lot to do with it...

LED cabin lighting and under water stern lights

NoXcuse, That does not sound stupid at all for the gunwale lights. I will check them out. my boat spends 40% of her time near the sea and the rest in freshwater. I am wanting to put the puck style underwater lights on the boat. Just not a fan of drilling a big hole in the stern (lol). Thanks...

LED cabin lighting and under water stern lights

Hey Yall: Anybody have any good recommendations for under the gunwale LED lighting that is reasonable but decent quality? Same for puck mounted LED under water stern lights? Also, I am curious about the 228 with a port side companion bend seat. Does anybody here have such a beast? I asked...

    200hp on 2001 226?

That guy on the other post is me. If I wrote 200, I made an error. I have a F250 with a 4 balder on it. I am with Strikezone on the speed rpm thing as I am around 30 at 4000 RPM. That RPM seems really low for the speed claimed, but who knows my boat has a hard top and all the bells and...

    228G spun prop

I have a F250 and a 228. It came propped with 15.5 x 17 Yammy SSII and last summer I put on a 4 blade 15.25x 16 prop and it has made a marked improvement in low end torque, better turning, improved following sea performance, better planing at lower RPMs, and a little better fuel economy. Not...

    Its Go Time!!

The_Chain, I hear you brother. I am chomping at the bit for spring to be here! I went to West Marine myself last week for some spring boat goodies like collinites wax. Nothing too sexy like new electronics. We got some other goodies too. Unlike you I grew up in Fla and spent 38 years there...

    Gulfstream 23 vs Freedom/tournament 22

I concur with striped bass on the ride differences between the two boats. I looked at a Gulfy and have ridden in one and perhaps would buy one except its a beamy boat with trailering permit issues for me. So I went with a 228 instead given my needs to trailer the boat. I am 5.6 so the...

Good Bye to the Grady Family

Cute pics. I know your daughter was proud of that fish, but I could not help but think that she caught some good bait to pull behind the boat (lol). We have a Rockwood Roo hybrid camper and enjoy it. You may or may not know we have a special needs son and he loves the outdoors, camping and the...
