    Gemlux Bluewater bases on GW335

I set my cranks a little tight (in/out) but they are ok. I miscalculated and wanted them in another inch. But it really isn't a problem. You may have to "help" the riggers out and back by grabbing the halyards. Again its not a big deal. I run equal length rigger halyards - works great for a...

    Using an IPAD for Navigation.

The issue is Navionics app. Garmin allows waypoints to display symbol, symbol and name or symbol and comment. Set for all waypoints. Ideally it should be settable individually.

    Using an IPAD for Navigation.

I got that. I have a large waypoint database that names spots. Its difficult to find a spot with Navionics. Garmin's Active Captain and the units allow you to show/hide names. When I'm researching bottom structure it is very convenient.

    Using an IPAD for Navigation.

Courious problem with the Navionics app. The markers (their waypoints) don't show with names. The names are retained in the marker and can be opened up to see them. I have not found a setting to change.

Curious why the dealer said they wouldn't work.

    Washdown

I had a hose wall ply separate. Would work for a while until wall collapsed and closed the water off.

I try to replace pumps with the same one. Holes and hoses lineup. No need to make a bigger project out of a pump swap. It’s probably the micro switch. Available on Amazon. If the pump is easy to take out and reinstall it’s worth a try. But usually they are in a bad location in which case just...

Tie off line with a windlass?

Well I know this is wrong but I use the windlass while bait fishing and do not tie it off. Mainly used in light to medium wind conditions. Not a problem. Technically this is totally wrong but I'm too lazy to go up front. After all why have a windlass and self launching anchor. Just don't try it...

    Gemlux Bluewater bases on GW335

I installed the GemLux Deluxe bases last year and used them in Florida this year. They were awesome! They are low but if far enough outboard they are fine. You really should have someone weld backing plate to hardtop. Lots of stress without it. They may be close to the rocket launchers but they...

    Garmin Navionics+ on GPSMAP chartplotters.

Anyone who wants to replace built-in g3 base maps with New Garmin Navionics+ base maps follow this. Worked for me. Pull the Active Captain card out. Build the SD card with Garmin Express. You need the BUS001L. It was on sale for $100 direct from Garmin but sale over and back to $150. I...

    Garmin Navionics+ on GPSMAP chartplotters.

I'll have to try the depth shading. Up North it would be handy to follow a snaking edge - maybe the 50 line or 100 line. Sailfishing in FL I mainly use the sounder and fish the edge of the reef (about 80 feet) in/out to 200 feet. Contours somewhat straight. So I couldn't just leave the idea...

Thruster install on 232, will post pics!

Yes it's best to balance the prop and transmission in the tunnel. Push the drive end to the edge of the tunnel and leave the prop inside as much as possible. I'm familiar with Total Boat filler. My landlord in Florida rebuilt his transom with polyester. He has done it before. Not for me but you...

    Garmin Navionics+ on GPSMAP chartplotters.

This might explain some of the flakey views. In Active Captain > Menu > Delete Charts > Delete All. This will remove all charts downloaded to AC and your unit. Maps remain in the cloud. Next in AC Charts > Download Charts > (move to and select an area, then chart type) > Download. AC will...

Thruster install on 232, will post pics!

I would use epoxy and thickened epoxy to tab the tube in. Also epoxy to lay up the fiberglass. Epoxy bonds extremely well to old polyester and is a better choice for a high load repair like the thruster installation. Polyester sticks well to polyester when its "green". Great for new boats. It...

    Garmin Navionics+ on GPSMAP chartplotters.

This basemap installation just doesn't look right. New Garmin Navionics+ BUS001L installed as a supplemental map. It's supposed to replace built-in. The Garmin Bluechart g3 show up as Built-in map. I want to eliminate the Bluechart g3 maps altogether. Active Captain > MyCharts show the...

I always thought these wrecks were pretty cool the way they lined them up. The shaded relief makes them pop!

    Garmin Navionics+ on GPSMAP chartplotters.

I have been matching up places in the Keys we fished in the past with shaded relief. We had no idea why the spots were productive. Pretty obvious now!

    Garmin Navionics+ on GPSMAP chartplotters.

Yes and no. I have always told my friends that charts outside “the path most traveled” is dangerous. They are concerns about large vessel navigation not someone cutting across a flat.More importantly is the Nav AIDS. In your local area you are probably aware of the changes. But if you are...
